Alexandre Napoleon Bourjois created the first powder blush after he saw how greasy and unattractive the makeup that was being used by theatre performers was. It was a light weight application that proved to be popular among the performers. Word spread outside of the theatre walls and Bourjois blush became available for the public.
The blush’s packaging inspired the nickname, ‘little round pot’ and was shipped to many countries around the world.
In the 1980s, Bourjois expanded to include eye shadows of up to 30 shades.
