How To Build The Ultimate Diy Brow Kit

We all know that eyebrows are arguably the most important features on our faces. With the multitude of brow grooming products available, there’s absolutely no excuse to leave home with yours resembling hairy caterpillars, but if they do, here’s the lowdown on everything you need to perfect your arches…

FIRST THINGS FIRST
• Work with your natural eyebrow shape as opposed to plucking your brows into oblivion.
• If you have light eyebrows, opt for a pencil or powder one shade darker than your own for natural-looking definition.

ESSENTIAL INSTRUMENTS

A mirror [try: Dis-Chem Suction X5 Mirror, R19.95], an eyebrow stencil, brow powder, tweezers, scissors, eyebrow gel.

GET THE LOOK

STEP 1:
Use an old mascara wand or eyebrow brush, to brush unruly brows upwards and in one direction. The combing action will allow you to see sparse areas that need to be filled in.
The product: Bourjois Sourcil Precision Eyebrow Pencil has a handy brush on its cap (R99.95, Clicks).

STEP 2:
Create the perfect shape by aligning each brow with your inner tear duct, with the arch peaking half way across the eyelid. Alternatively, use a brow stencil to determine the best shape for your face. Once brows are aligned or stenciled, tweeze stray hairs and snip extra long hairs with a scissors (Tweezerman Slant Tweezers R269 and Tweerzerman Facial Hair Trimming Scissors R278, Dis-Chem).
The product: Eyelure Brow Stencil (R64.99, leading pharmacies).

STEP 3:
Fill in brows with a brow pencil or powder to fake the appearance of full, healthy and thick eyebrows. Use small strokes to keep colour looking natural.
The product: Revlon Brow Fantasy pencil and gel (R120, leading pharmacies).

STEP 4:
Set brows with a waterproof eyebrow gel to tame rogue hairs and keep them looking perfectly groomed all day long.
The product: Benefit Gimme Brow volumizing fiber gel (R295, Edgars) or the Maybelline Brow Drama (R79.95, leading pharmacies).
