Elizabeth Arden

Florence Nightingale Graham, or better known by her business name Elizabeth Arden, was one of the wealthiest women in the world. Her career started as a bookkeeper for a pharmaceutical company in New York. Here is where she spent hours in a lab learning about skin care and preparing herself for greater things to come.

Arden travelled to France to learn about facial massage techniques and beauty care. She learned how to make facial powders and rogues which was only allowed for stage performers in her day. When she did open her salon Arden was the woman who inspired and introduced the “make over” concept.

Fabian Swanson, Ardens business partner collaborated a “fluffy” face cream together which took the nation by storm. This is when they struck a life long partnership. During their time together, Fabian Swanson and Arden created a collection of lip, face and skin care products.

Expansion of the Arden company began in 1915 when Arden began opening salons world wide. Arden products were even available in Tibet!

Being one of the most famous women pioneers, Elizabeth Arden provided make up for icons such as Marilyn Monroe, Queen Elizabeth and the Queen Mary.

Elizabeth Arden is still one of the top selling brands in the make up industry today!
