THIS. FOUNDATION. Omg. I have really tricky skin for foundation, quite oily and acne prone, so difficult to find something that (a) stays on and (b) has good coverage. I discovered Mac Studio Fix Fluid and fell in love, used that for a few years. But their policy on animal testing in China just kept bugging me, so I gave this Studio Skin a try (as from 2017, Smashbox doesn't test on animals). AAAHHH. I love it so much. It is so beautifully spreadable and buildable, has such amazing coverage I hardly ever wear concealor, and really does stay on for 15 hours. The price is PAINFUL, but compared to other foundations in its class, it's pretty comparable. It also lasts for up to 3 months because you don't have to reapply every 6 hours, so #worthit.
I found the shade (2.25) to suit my skin tone better than most other foundations. It definitely is an amazing colour for me personally. It has a satin finish which I LOVE an is more of a sheer to medium coverage, but is build-able if you prefer a fuller coverage. It's also comfortable on the skin with minimal transfer so you don't mind layering it on for that fuller coverage! I would buy it again..but unfortunately my budget can't afford it anymore.
I've found this foundation matches really really well with my skin tone and blends seamlessly into my skin. However, I've found that I have to put on about three layers to get good coverage - otherwise any marks/pimples on your face are still completely visible. It's a buildable foundation, so you can put on multiple layers for you preferred coverage. I wear this when I go out to night clubs, and it stays put the WHOLE night with absolutely no creasing, it doesn't come off when I blot my face or rub off on clothes. I apply mine with a damp beauty blender and set it with MAC studio fix powder.
I got it on sale at Woolies so it didn't break the bank that bad for me (and lucky for me I'm very pale, so the lightest shades seem to always be on sale).
I have very oily skin, so it does tend to shine later in the day, but not as bad as other high end products I've tried. I literally pump two pumps into my Real Techniques Buffing brush and buff my entire skin with it. It has a great cover, it builds really well and the colour is an amazing match! It stays on all day, it's so smooth on my skin and just looks amazing!
I've tried many different products before but this one is really really a great product. I do agree, a bit pricey, but really a great investment and it will last for some time! Thepump top is great for those of us who tend to use too much product, you can really control the amount you use.
I love this foundation for the simple fact that it does it's job without the need of a primer or concealer. Less makeup is required, and it gives a natural look. The product is oil-fee so I dont breakout after long wear. This has become a staple for me!
The Studio Skin 15 hour wear hydrating foundation is a SUPERB buy. It glides on easily on my super sensitive skin, without causing any irritaion. The foundation does not transfer on my clothes or hands and wears very well throughout the day without any need for re-application. The foundation leaves a semi-matte finish without being too drying on my skin. The only negative aspect would be that it does not layer well (not buildable even the product claims this). The product provides medium rather than full coverage. Should you require cover for blemishes or dark spots i would recommend a good concealer.
