The Black Opal cosmetics and skin care range were developed for ethnic skin and established in 1994. They wanted a range of products that were not only made specifically for ethnic skin, but also affordable. Their products are aimed at enhancing the natural beauty of the user’s skin and give it radiance.

The team of three women that included a dermatologist and a scientist developed the first Black Opal product which was the Advanced Dual Complex Fade Gel in 1994. From there, they went on to expand and include other products such as make up for African skin, skin care products for men and even solutions for ingrown hair.

The Black Opal skin care range is called Even True and includes products to help even out skin tone and get rid of blemishes. They also have a range of products made specifically for dry skin such as the Even True Nutritive Skin Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF15. It not only moisturises, but also helps to protect your skin from the sun.

The Black Opal make up range has various products such as lip liners, lip gloss and lip stick, eye shadow, mascara and foundations. All of these are made with the skin colour, tone and texture of ethnic skin in mind.

They are also involved in various projects to help uplift black women around the world, such as providing scholarships. In addition, they are also involved in helping raise funds for organisations in Africa through the sale of Black Opal products online.
