This is the very first mascara I ever bought, and every mascara since then has not compared. I have been using this mascara for years, and it is the VERY VERY BEST! Whenever my friends borrow my mascara they comment on how amazing it is, how it doesn't leave clumps, and how long it makes their lashes. I would recommend finding the wand that has cone shaped bristles, as I think it works the best. Really is the best out there!

I was so young when this mascara was released. It might the of the oldest Maybeline product ever. When I went to the Clicks store for the 1st time with my own money to buy my 1st REAL makeup, this was the mascara I chose. I was all about natural looking makeup and needed a mascara I could wear to school and get away with. This was it and boy did I love it...love it still!
It seperates lashes perfectly so no clumpy mess or flaking at the end of the day. This is the perfect mascara for a natural look or for ladies who have sensitive eyes and can't wear heavy mascaras. It is also great for fine and short lashes like my own and won't get all over your lid like all the "WOW and OOH" effects brands do.
This is also a great product is you buy two different mascaras for your lids. I sometimes buy something that ads a lot of volume to my upper lashes and then I will use this one for my lower lashes to make sure they are seperated and natural looking.
This is one of those products that I will always reach for no matter how "old and outdated" it gets.

The first time I used this mascara it was because we were heading out and my friend had handed me hers. It had a small pointed brush which could reach the insides and bottoms of my lashes quite nicely. I then purchased it for myself later but to my disappointment it did not have the same brush. I have naturally long lashes. It is so hard to apply this without having clumps or having way too much on my lashes, despite wiping off the excess on the brush before applying. I am not happy especially since this wasn't a cheap product. I will not be repurchasing, its just laying in my makeup bag.

When I first used this Mascara I was amazed at how small the brush was. I think im just used to the modern day big brushes. Im actually glad that it is smaller than most mascaras because I like to use it to coat my bottom lashes and to get those top lashes hiding in the corner. I then go in with a bigger brush mascara and just make the lashes darker and thicker. I love the combination.
What I love most about this mascara is the container. When taking out the spoolie there is a nice tight suction type of passage that you pull the spoolie through and it just cleans the brush perfectly leaving on a perfect amount of product.
I highly recommend this product if you want a classic, easy to use mascara.

this is my make-up bag staple been using it for years now, yes I am one of those people who apply two different types of mascara, Maybelline Great Lash Mascara adds that extra length to the lashes, love it to bits !!!!

This is definitely one of the best out there. When it comes to affordability and performance, no other can compete in my opinion. It is extremely black, provides volume and length and it stays on really well throughout the day. Best for everyday!

Probably one of the oldest Maybelline products still on the market! All the Maybelline mascaras I have tried are fantastic.. but I still always seem to go back to this one. Its plastic brush and bristles keep every application clump free and the mascara doesn’t collect in the brush. All lashes are covered in just a few strokes. And gives the final affect of natural looking false lashes. And it really is waterproof! I have even swam whilst wearing it and it doesn’t run or smudge. Does take an oil based make up remover and a little more time to remove properly though.

I've had this mascara for a while now and I can honestly say that it's given me such bang for my buck! It can constitute for all the eye make up you'd need for the day because of the drama it brings. I've gotten tonnes of compliments on my "eyelash extensions", which is great, as a student budgets doesn't really allow for extensions. The only criticism I could offer is that it does tend to clump after using it for a while. *do be sure to apply the second coat before the first coat dries, this will avoid any cracking as it is quite a heavy mascara.

This is an oldie, but such a goodie! It coats each lash, provides length and volume and the formula is truly the blackest black. If you like drama - this should be your go-to mascara. Well worth the price and more.

The pink & green mascara!
This was the 1st Maybelline product i was introduced to by my sister way back in the days that's how i get to know about beauty brands.
My sister would buy this product from Clicks & during my teen stages i'd steal it when going for contests or performances at school together with all the other products she had then.
I remember the 1st time putting on a mascara I looked like i had shoe polish on my eyes all i knew then was i had to close my eyes and apply it & that i had to open my mouth as all ladies
still do even today when applying it :).
Maybelline products has been on the shelves years back & I'm surprised they've been in the beauty industry for 100 years meaning it's good quality brand that is easily accessible & affordable at the same time.
I ended up loving this mascara too, no smudges, soft brush & no eye irritation.

Maybelline is such a reliable brand in terms of Mascara and the one I always default to at the end of the day. The brush is a good size and I've never experienced any problems with the solution being chunky. The price is also very good and affordable.

I see I reviewed this product in 2010 so I thought I would review it again because I'm still using this product. This product just works for my fine lashes, it lengthens my lashes without clumping, it doesn't irrigate my eyes and although it lasts it washes off easily. What more could a girl ask for?
I found this product at Foschini the other day with a slightly smaller angled brush which I wanted to try out. The brush is great because its pointed at the end which allows you to go as close to your eyelash as possible which makes application easier. Its also small enough to coat your bottom lash without smudging.
You must try it!

Since I can remember, my mom used this mascara. And when I was old enough to use makeup, I also started using it. Back then the tube was a bit more bulky than now, with the same colourful label.
Well this mascara has spoiled me for so many other mascaras and I always end up comparing the mascara I am currently using with Great Lash. Needless to say I always go back to this one as it know just how to make my lashes to feel loved.

I probably am one of the few people that doesn't like this mascara!i find it very average and probably ok as a first start mascara! I seem to get mine free when i but at beauty fairs!i wouldn't actually buy it! But cos people rave about this mascara and for some it's considered a cult classic i thought i would try it! I have naturally long lashes! I use mascara as my loose powder normally ends up coating the tips and the tips if my lashes are somewhat sun bleached! This mascara could look awesome on my lashes as i only need colour depositing! Instead i found it thick and it clumped and gave me tarantula lashes!

I remember being in grade seven at a 'Slumber Party' birthday party and my friends' mother had this mascara as one of the beauty products and I fell in love. Honestly if I had to choose one drugstore mascara it would be this one. Such a winner!! I am however not the greatest fan of the waterproof one as I struggle to get it off but obviously some occasions call for this type of mascara :)

Myself i prefer a bigger brush that delivers in one maybe two coats! I've used this when getting used to a mascara in my younger days! It has a small brush enabling you to get to bottom and side lashes with ease! I find my eyes very reactive to this particular one as my eyes itch and tear in seconds of application! Why this occurs I'm not sure as I've used other varieties under the maybelline umbrella without a problem!it enables build able cover to get volume and length! I feel the product splashes a bit and may need blotting when it comes out the container! All in all these days i know what i want in a mascara! This is not for me! As I've said probably a good starter mascara for someone new to mascara

Maybelline Great Lash was the very first mascara I've ever used. It's the tried and trusted formula and thousands of women love this brand. I bought it after I saw how beautiful my friend's lashes looked. I use the shade Blackest Black. It lasts FOREVER if you keep it in a cool, dry place. I have been wanting to use the 'lots of lashes' variant, but already have the two other mascaras in stock, so I should probably use those first. This is around R120 I think. But really worth it. Great formula, and wonderful for those who are new to the whole make-up game. :)

It is very affordable, wears well and makes lashes look full and long.

the BEST mascara I have ever used! it was Maybelline's very first and its the reason why its been bestseller for years.

It is not a bad mascara but it does require more than one coat depending on preference. It has a small brush so you may apply easier to the corners and it does not clump.

This is one of my favorite mascaras, which is great because it doesn't break the budget! The formula is smooth which means no clumps (YAY!!!) and really black which creates thick, long lashes that lasts all day! This mascara amazes me because it is one of maybeline's firsts but still manages to WOW everyone in the beauty world!

Love this mascara! I received one in a Rubybox and I was really impressed. The product didn't dry out quickly like most mascara's and the brush really worked on each lash you have. From the short ones, to the longer ones closer to the edge of your lashes. Each lash is covered. It also doesnt start to clump after a few days of use.

There is a reason almost all the make up artists I know use Great Lash- the stuff is amazing! The brush is nice and small, allowing you to get the mascara onto every inch of your lashes and it doesn't clump! I love this mascara

My mom took me into clicks last week to treat me to a new mascara, I have previously been using the essences cheapies and I have loved them! Anyway she wanted to buy me a nice new one, she told me this particular mascara has been around since my mom was my age, that really amazed me, because so many ranges come and go, this volume mascara has stayed and stayed in the same tube and all!
I got the blackest black. I was so shocked when I opened it because the brush is so small, I usually prefer large "juicy" brushes.
I am enjoying this one for a change it gives a lot of volume and because the brush is small it gets all the small lashes!

The results are exactly what I expected from Maybelinne's famous Great Lash formula - they haven't changed the formulation - they simply improved on the brush to ehance the product. Great Lash mascara has always been a mascara that is quick and easy to use and gives you excellent results every single time.
I applied 1 coat of the mascara to my top and bottom lashes and because I used the Blackest Black colour I only needed 1 coat to achieve the look in the photo I uploaded. Maybelinne's formula is such that you can easily build up the desired colour and volume very quickly with no clumping.
The new brush is heart shaped and uses rubber like bristles which is different from the traditional Great Lash brush (pictured above). Because the bristles are shorter on the tip it is very easy to get to the inner corner of your eyelids and coat those lashes with mascara - which can be a challenge at times with other brushes. The new bristles also ensure that the mascara applies smoothly with zero clumping and separates lashes beautifully.
The mascara lasts well on your lashes all day and can easily be removed with your usual face wash or makeup remover.
Another great thing about this mascara is the price - you get a top quality product that has proven itself for over 40 years for under R100. Not many other mascaras have been able to stand the test of time as this one has.

I received this magnificent gift in my Aug Rubybox. I immediately noticed the small almost heart shaped brush and was so excited to 'test'
I have lots of eye lashes and this brush managed to grab my smaller in eye lashes creating a wider, fuller look for my lashes

i wasn't too happy with this mascara when i started using it, the brush is way too small and you need to apply several coats to actually see a difference. the only thing i liked about it was that it could be removed without any tugigng or breaking of lashes

I've tried MANY different Mascaras but this remains my Must Have. I still experiment with various mascaras but find myself coming back to this all the time. It truly is a great with it's coverage without any clots or bunching of lashes. I noticed that in other reviews people have given this 3 stars for price which I do not fully understand why because it is by far one of the cheapest known brand mascaras on the shelf - around R60. I've tried other mascaras all over R100 and I haven't received the same results as I do with this humble mascara.

Maybelline's Great Lash Lots of Lashes is great! I found that it does not flake off as bad as other mascaras do. My favorite part about this mascara is the brush, it is kind of a cone shape so it flares out the ends of your lashes giving your eyes more of a 'pop'. They brush easily separates the lashes and you are able to applying a second coat before allowing it to dry so that it does not clump! It definately makes my eyes come alive :)

I love this product because it is a simple product that gives you great results. The mascara applies easily and without any lumps or clumps. Thus, there really is no need for two coats. It instantly opens your eyes and just looks amazing.
It is extremely long lasting – I have even worn it out on a day to the beach and did not experience any runniness or smudging. And it also removes quite easily with lukewarm water and cotton wool.

I have been reading up on how people can't find the best mascara, and i have tried everything from Max Factor's Memoirs of a Geisha Mascara, to lancome, to cheap buys, to big in-your-face mascara brushes that just mess up and clump your eye lashes... and my conclusion is, if it is tried and tested and been here forever, it probably is best! Nicole Richie, Adriana Lima and even "Serena" in Gossip Girl uses it! They can't be wrong.
