You need to watch the temperature. I let it melt about half-way and lower the temp on the stove or completely off. I then melt the rest using the heat of the stove or already melted wax that is in the mug. It was simple to use and the instructions were pretty clear. It removed the hair perfectly and I was really impressed with the product. The only down fall I had with it, which isn't much of a big deal was I found that the hot wax cooled a bit too quickly and things can get a bit too messy. But always keep newspaper and baby oil in handy.
