One Brand Foundation Routine - Clinique

​I have to admit that this is my first time using a Clinique primer, foundation and powder.  I have used their skincare before and loved it, so why not try their makeup.  Please keep reading to see which products I selected and what my thoughts were.


From left to right:

Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Liquid Makeup at R420.00 for 30ml

Clinique Stay-Matte Sheer Pressed Powder in Invisible Matte at R370.00 for 7.6g

Clinique Superprimer in Universal at R395.00 for 30ml


First I applied about a pea size amount of the Superprimer to my entire face.  The consistency of this primer is more like a moisturizer than a silicone based primer, but the finish is very similar to a silicone based primer.  It left my face feeling very smooth and comfortably matte.  Next I applied about 2 pea size amounts of the Anti-Blemish Solutions foundation.  The foundation does set rather quickly, so you do not have a lot of time to work with it.  I love the finish though.  It is extremely light weight and has very good coverage.  Lastly, I applied the Stay-Matte powder with the applicator sponge it came with in pressing motions.  The powder does have a slight color to it, but nothing to be too worried about.  It is silky smooth and does not give a cakey effect.   All these products applied beautifully on top of each other and you don't even feel them on your skin, which is an absolute bonus!



At 2 hours, my face was still very matte.  The bright lighting in this photo makes my face look a bit shiny, but off camera it was definitely still matte.



At 5 hours, my oils definitely made their way to the surface.  Other than my nose and forehead, the rest of my face was still oil-free.



At 8 hours, I was definitely oily on the rest of my face including my cheeks and chin.



Still at 8 hours, I decided to blot.  As you can see on the photo, my foundation remained intact.  I did not loose any coverage and my face looked fresh and oil free.  I was really impressed by this!  I have discovered that with really good products, even though oils are not 100% controlled, you do not need additional product for touching up.  Simply blot the oil away and if your initial products remain unchanged - you have found a winner!
