My Makeup Journey.

Where did my journey start?

I was born and raised in the Gauteng province of South Africa but spent a great deal of my childhood on a farm in the Drakensburg in the Eastern Cape. That taught me a simple life, a life without cosmetics. It was only in my first year of high school that I finally understood what the purpose of makeup really was.

I never had a problem with my skin or any blemishes, but unfortunately, I've been stuck with dark circles under my eyes since early teens. That was the initial cause of my journey towards makeup.

I went through all the makeup stages you can imagine, I even went through the awkward 14-year-old lip gloss and blue eyeliner stage, thankfully that passed.

In my high school years, we were never really allowed to wear makeup, you could get away with cheap drugstore cosmetics such as an Essence BB cream and mascara, and that was enough for me. It was only on weekends when I used to try to broaden my knowledge. When I was about 15 or 16 years old I went through the "rocker"-stage, I used to think that black eyeliner was my best friend, talk about raccoon eyes! Haha, fortunately that too, passed.

It was only after I finished high school when I started wearing makeup more continuously and since I had university every day, it was the perfect opportunity to practice my developing skills! At first I still spent a lot of time on my makeup but as time passed and we got to the second semester, I could feel my skin was not used to wearing makeup every day and it is then when my skin started changing, it went from an oily skin to a rather dry skin and that complicated my foundation use, I started slacking. I could do my makeup in 5 minutes, and I can assure you it was not always a success. I struggled to find the right foundation to adapt to my face and because of that I have tried and tested a lot of foundations.

I also went through the clubbing-stage, a stage where I tried and tested so many lipsticks, trying to find a fool proof one that will stay on my lips, even through all of the tequila shots. As that stage passed I started wearing lipstick less, but in my opinion the perfect shade of red lipstick can still take any cocktail dress to the next level. Like they say, give a woman red lipstick and she can conquer the world!

So why did I start this blog?

Because I know there are a lot of you guys out there, just like me, who struggle to find the right makeup that suits your needs, and just like me, you don't want to buy senselessly in the hope that you will find the right product. So, that's where I come in! I will put some makeup to the test and let you fellow makeup enthusiasts know what I think.

I hope you enjoy!
