Monthly Challenges *Week 3

The one thing that I struggle with is the smokey eye. I tried once a couple of years ago and it looked so bad that I haven't tried since! I am always too scared that I will look like a hooker, or like I got punched in the eye, or like a hooker who got punched in the eye! But now with Beauty Bulletin challenging us, I thought I would give it another go. Let's hope this time it's more sultry and less silly!

This is what I used to achieve my look:

- Catrice All Round Concealer (lightest shade)

- Catrice Absolute Nude Eyeshadow Pallette (lightest and darkest shade)

- Avon Glimmerstick eyeliner in black

- Catrice Ultra Fine Ink Eyeliener

- Catrice Lashes to Kill mascara

- Essence smokey eyeshadow brush

- Essence eyeshadow brush

Step 1

Apply concealer all over lid. If you have an eyeshadow base, use that. I don’t, so I improvised with some concealer.

Step 2

Apply a light nude shade all over lid. I used the lightest shade of the palette. I like it because it has a nice shimmer to it.

Step 3

Using a black eyeliner, draw a line in the crease and outer corner of the eye, and then fill in with the liner. This looked scary and I thought I had failed already at the smokey eye again!

Step 4

Blend the eyeliner in from the crease up, and from the outer corner in. I also added a little bit of the darkest shade in the eyeshadow palette. Whew this started looking a little better now :)

Step 5

Apply black eyeliner to the bottom lashes and also wet line.

Step 6

With a thin brush (I used Essence eyeshadow brush) apply dark brown eyeshadow under the eyeliner on the bottom lashes.

Step 7

Apply liquid liner to the top. I managed to get a bit on my lashes too – woops!

Step 8

Add lashings of mascara to finish it all off and make your eyes pop.

And there you go - my smokey eye look! What do you think? Not as bad as I thought it might turn out, but still room for improvement. Practice makes perfect and at least now I have the confidence to try this look again!

Thank you for the challenge BB, can't wait to see what next week brings!
