How to Treat Your Tresses

How to Treat Your Tresses

I thought I would share a tip with all the ladies sporting long tresses and in dire need of instant hair restoration. I for one have long hair that needs constant maintenance as I dye it every month.

Having long hair can be quite tiresome and become a full day job. At points I consider cutting it, only to wake in a cold sweat, in the middle of the night having a nightmare that I shaved it off! I immediately give that notion up and have since avoided hairdressers! No really, the last time I paid a visit to a hair dresser was when I hit my sixteenth year! I won’t mention my age here, but let’s just say I'm mid way to the flirty fifties...*wink wink. Not my first experience, but certainly my last, with a hairdresser had me in tears as I lost all my length. From waist long hair to the nape of my neck is what I had to endure. I immediately sought out my friend that is really a fairy godmother when it comes to taming tresses or fixing scissor friendly cuts. As a matter of fact, it was this friend that handed me this piece of advice which I’m about to so generously share with you ;)

b2ap3_thumbnail_olive-oil-big.jpgLong hair becomes split and dry especially if you color treat your hair. Most women don’t have the time to go to salons for hair treatments, and just like another part of your body, your hair needs nourishing oils and time for treatment.

Now most of you probably know coconut oil, and if so, you should know that even though it is messy-it works! My problem with coconut oil or hair treatments is that I often forget to add it to the shopping list and when I need it or have the time to whip it on my hair, I am at a loss. This is where my tip comes in...

All you need is:

·         Microwave (as crazy as this sounds)

·         Olive Oil

·         Conditioner

·         Table Spoon

·         Mug

Now what you need to do is place the silver spoon in the microwave...hahaha! Just kidding! Please don’t do this, as it won’t be your hair having bad days, but rather your kitchen with an exploding microwave....and I know all about melting glass in microwaves and even setting fire to stoves. Really not a kitchen person!

Anyway, what you need to do is: take two tablespoons of conditioner and place it in the mug, then proceed to take a tablespoon of olive oil and place it in the mug. Mix the two together and heat in the microwave for about a minute. Mix the concoction again and it is ready! As simple as sampling cake!

Make sure your hair towel dried, so wet your hair and towel dry it. Once you are in this position, you are ready to apply the warm mixture onto the mid section to the ends of the hair.

What I like about this treatment is that unlike other treatments containing oil, it washes out relatively easily. I recommend that you do this on a weekend so that it can stay in over night. The longer it stays in the better the results. Once you have combed your hair with the treatment in it, braid it and roll it into a ball or tie it in a bun. This will prevent the oil from getting on your clothes and face, which can actually lead to a breakout...a ninja breaking out your closet and doing the makarena! Hahaha...again, just kidding ladies! Should a ninja jump out your closet and do a dance, you won’t even see it! Besides, ninjas only do this when there are smelly shoes in the closet, and we all know, women don’t perspire. So how could we possibly have smelly feet?
