As many of you know Essence Cosmetics released their #Loveyoushade range which caters for women of colour. I shared my thoughts on their Matte Compact Powder and today I will focus on their Soft touch mousse foundation.
The Essence #Loveyourshade range contains 3 new shades, matt porcelain, matt caramel. and matt mahogany. For the purpose of this post I will be focusing on matt mahogany which is the deepest of the 3 new shades.
When I first unscrewed the lid to this foundation I was a little confused as to whether or not I was staring at a tub of delectable chocolaty mousse or actual makeup. I was ready to grab my spoon and tuck in. A few seconds later I snapped back to reality and got on with testing out the product.
Matt Mahogany is the shade number 60 and Essence Cosmetics describes their mousse foundation as being a, "soft touch mousse makeup is a super delicate mousse texture that gives your face a smooth natural-looking matte complexion while allowing your skin to breathe freely."
I was a little unsure as to how to go about applying this foundation so I decided to go the old fashioned route and used my fingers. I took a small bit and blended it into my face and gradually went back and forth between the tub and my face, slowly blending in the mousse to different sections of my face. I was really impressed as to how effortlessly the mousse blended into my face and gave off a natural looking finish. This product gives off a light coverage but does a wonderful job at concealing all my dark spots. I did not have any trouble with the makeup transferring onto my clothes throughout the day. Although this is a light coverage foundation, it is still extremely build-able which is great if you want to use this as a contour, which makes it a great multipurpose product.
This beauty retails for an affordable R69.95 and can be purchased from your nearest Dis-Chem and Clicks stores nationwide.
Please be warned that this foundation comes in a glass jar so be extra cautious when handling it!
