Coping Over Feastive Season

Coping Over Feastive Season

Unfortunately parties, alcohol and late nights can play havoc with your skin so don't be surprised if you have a few beauty emergencies along the way. Whether your complexion has lost its glow or your eyes are red and puffy there are lots of brilliant new beauty weapons on the market which can help sort out these seasonal spoilers. Here are some festive toolkit essentials.

The delicate skin around the eyes is the first to show signs of wear and tear and too much partying can leave peepers bloodshot and puffy.

Two tea bags soaked in warm water and then placed over eyes for a couple of minutes will reduce swelling.

Slices of chilled cucumber are just as effective.

Alternatively try stroking a lump of ice wrapped in clingfilm over any puffiness or tapping lightly around your eyes with your fingertips. Some clever make-up can also work wonders to hide signs of tiredness.

Try one of the new generation of eye-brightening mascaras which can give the illusion of thicker lashes and sparkling eyes.

Quick Fix:

Too many alcoholic drinks can leave skin tired and dehydrated. Exfoliation is one way to give it an instant glow. Try rubbing a damp flannel over your face to remove dead skin cells.

Next, plump up your skin with a quick fix moisture mask.

Once you have applied it place a damp flannel over your face and lie down for 10 minutes. It will work wonders. After you've removed the mask splash some cold water on your face to brighten and tighten the skin.

If your skin is especially dry use a moisturiser containing hyaluronic acid under your make-up.

Make sure that you give it time to sink in to the skin properly before applying foundation.

Refresh your complexion throughout the day with a quick spritz of a nourishing facial spray to give skin an extra moisture boost.

You can't beat a fake tan to make you look slimmer and to hide broken veins or age spots.

Exfoliate and moisturise skin before applying. Give skin an additional shimmer by breaking off some bronzer from an old compact and mixing it with some body lotion.

1 Drink a glass of water after every alcoholic drink as this will lessen the after effects the next day. Leave a jug of water beside your bed to drink when you arrive home. Try to avoid coffee the morning after a big night out as caffeine is a diuretic so will dehydrate the body further.

2 A good herb to help you through endless parties is milk thistle. It helps with cleansing the liver, which clears out toxins.  Also there is ProHep and Essential

3 Broken out in spots? Use a blemish-busting treatment – try one that is packed with exfoliating salicylic acid. Dab it on the spot and it will settle any redness and inflammation within 24 hours.
