A fairytale with MAC! Faerie Whispers Collection

A fairytale with MAC! Faerie Whispers Collection

Let your innocence roam free. Transcend seasons with charmed hues inspired by the secret, wondrous world of fairies. Eyes flutter impishly in new Foiled Shadows, in luminous wet or dry shades that flicker like morning mist. Feathery pinks for cheeks brighten the day, imbuing you with a spritely glow. Cast a spell with rosy metallics for nails and pearl-lit nudes for lips, spinning glamour 'til the moon turns to sun.

If that, which is MAC's description of the Faerie Whispers Collection, doesn't sound whimsical and make you want to don a tulle skirt and put on your angel wings, I don't know what will!

The MAC Faerie Whispers collection is deceptive, pretending to be regular MAC products because of their standard packaging. RANT: MAC, you could have really done so much with the packaging. You could have put wings on the compacts, the possibilities were endless! It's fine, I'm going to bling out my compacts and bedazzle them for sure!

I picked up face products and an eyeshadow only from the collection because I'm not a lippie kinda girl (my lipstick collection will argue otherwise) and none of the nail lacquers because, to be fair, I'm not a fan the MAC nail polish formula. Had it been in limited edition packaging, I probably would have picked one up.

So, you would be right to think from the pictures that these look like varying shades of boring . . . but for me, they're not!

Let's talk about the MAC Foiled Eyeshadows. This is a new, limited edition formula that can be used wet or dry.

I got the shade Enchanted Forest that is a golden bronze with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had great pigmentation whether dry or damp. Dry, the colour is very intense so it really doesn't change the colour or formula of the eyeshadow when applied wet. This eyeshadow melts into any other shadow you blend it with, even when damp. This is rare because often the texture of an eyeshadow changes and is difficult to blend when applied wet. This is a melting moment and I will perhaps pick up one more.

I did pick up MAC Cheek Pollen Blush, which looks quite drab in the pan. It is a medium-dark brown with warm undertones, which, when applied, leaves an undeniable sheen on the skin . . . ethereal really.

It is very pigmented with a soft texture that blends easily into the skin

I like that it doesn't have sparkles so it won't and doesn't emphasize pores, which many high-shine, metallic, shimmery blushes can do. It shows up beautifully on dark skin and I could not be happier with this blush. It's a beautiful everyday blush that could double as a bronzer and blush. That said, it has enough glam factor to be worn on a night out!

MAC Sparkling Rose Iridescent Pressed Powder comes in a mirrored compact. It is described as champagne with pearl. There's a definite rosiness to this product and the pearl finish isn't chalky or ashy on my skin. The powder is soft, and blends easily. The more you blend it, the more the sheen. It is a semi-sheer powder that can be built up to dust LIGHTLY all over the face. Build up this bad boy and it makes for a soft highlighter that will suit all skin tones

MAC Pearl Sunshine Beauty Powder comes in a mirrored compact. While described as a soft peach with pearl, it looks straight up like a muted rose gold on me. MAC says beauty powders can be applied as a highlight, soft blush, or overall finishing powder. On my dark skin, this is a highlighter or a blusher. The texture is finely milled and again adds an ethereal glow to the skin. It is a semi-sheer powder, so can also use this dusted LIGHTLY on the high points of the face or all over as a finishing powder because it will add warmth and soft focus light to the skin.

My top picks for this collection is definitely the foiled eyeshadows and the beauty powders. I have said that I would you them primarily as highlighters or finishing powders, but you can use them as eye shadows, blushes or even all over your body! It's about making the product your own.

I honestly was expecting loads of sparkle and glitter, I mean I kept thinking fairly dust and glitter, the kind you buy from a stationary store. I also didn't think this would suit brown girls, I didn't see a brown fairy in the promo pics, actually, has there ever been a brown fairy? Let me know in the comments below!

This collection summed up in in two words is "ethereal sheen'!
