I ALWAYS wear mascara, so let me start of by saying this: In my opinion, this is the BEST mascara I have ever used! I know that I have used quite a few mascaras and the current always being better than the last, but I never stopped looking for thee PERFECT mascara! I am proud to say that I have finally found this in Avon Mega Effects Mascara!
The packaging:
Unique, Innovative, Creative, User Friendly and Perfect for me. I love the fact that its so securely packaged, now I do not have to worry about my mascara drying out. The applicator reminds me of a paint brush, and the application feels like I am painting the formula onto my lashes. I LOVE THIS!!! The applicator is so perfectly proportioned that it allows for each individual lash to be coated, separated, elongated and thickened. All this after one coat.... YES LADIES, ONE COAT! The applicator allows you to bend/angle it for a more precise application, reaching the lashes on the inner and outer corners of the eye. YES, the applicator may look odd, but I think it's the best thing since sliced bread - and by far the most innovative mascara wand yet. It covers the entire lash line and when starting from the root and wiggling upwards, it covers every lash strand leaving beauty in its path, you gotta love it!!
The overall packaging is eye catching with Avon's signature black casing but with an addition of a red cap, as well as the applicator handle being the same shade of red. I think the colour scheme works really well together giving off a great edgy vibe and all together visually appealing!
It's small, compact and easily transportable in your clutch/handbag/cosmetic bag
The formula:
The Mascara formula is nothing short of awesome! As I have mine in Blackest Black it has a lovely velvety appearance with a good smooth consistency. It takes instantly to my lashes and as previously stated it coats, separates, elongates and thickens in one simple coat! I find this to be perfect for those situations when time is of the essence, and all i have time for is one coat! The wonderbrush also allows me to get right down in the root so it appears as if I have eyeliner on, so another plus! But if you are after a more intense look, apply the second coat before your first application dries - It dries really quick which is useful as there is minimal to no mess, and less opportunity for my handy work to smudge.
After application, then what?
Sit back, relax, look fabulous, fierce and feel confident knowing that Avon Mega Effects Mascara has you covered! As I have previously mentioned in other reviews, I wear contact lenses so I need my mascara to be flake proof as well as to be easily removed at the end of the day (there is nothing worse than trying to get your mascara off and losing a few lashes in the process!). I find all the boxes ticked with Avon Mega Lash Mascara..
How did it fare through various situations?
I had a vigorous 2 hour work out last night and perspired buckets, I looked worse for wear, but my eyelashes still looked absolutely fabulous! I do not think this particular mascara is waterproof, but found that it did not run when my eyes teared up (I suffer from hay fever and sinus and often have to deal with itchy teary eyes), it did not smudge, or flake through out the day - even after the itchy eye episode, and the hectic work out.
To sum it up:
Pros:
- It does not flake, AT ALL.
- It does not smudge
- My lashes look crisp and fresh at the end of the day, so it wears extremely well, better than most mascara's i have used.
- It takes well to lashes
- One coat is all you need for beautiful naturally full looking lashes
- It is buildable, so achieving that intense smouldering lash look is a piece of cake with Avon Mega Lash
- The applicator allows me to really get down onto the lash line which helps to create a fuller appearance as well as an eyeliner effect and really opens up my - eyes
- Clump free
Cons:
Personally, I'm head over heels in love with Avon Mega Lash, so I can't find any cons.
* I have read many reviews on this Mascara before receiving from BB and what seems to be common is that some women find the applicator to be too short or small or even plain scary (I think the scary part becuase it's so different and some women do not like change from the traditional wand). I thought this would also be the case after seeing it, but I think it is more a matter of finding the nick to using it. Once you master that, you will find that its actually the perfect size for precise and efficient application.
In a nutshell, it lives up to its promises and so much more *happiness*
As I do not share my mascara with anyone, I have not tested this on anyone with short or minimal lashes. From what I have experienced though, I would think that it will definitely improve the visual appearance of lashes in the before mentioned conditions. I would therefore highly recommend this mascara to everyone, it's not your average mascara, so you may experience some trial and error, but I promise, It's really worth the results, all you need is a little patience!

I was abit tacken aback when I opened the box and saw an unusual looking mascara tube, even more so when I pulled out the brush, but my initial shock turned to absolute delight when I applied the mascara. It lenghtened my lashes so much that it felt like they were touching my eyebrows. The colour is absolutely divine and my lashes were left thicker than normal. I really enjoyed appilying it to the bottom lashes as this is where my mascara normally clumps, this didn't clump at all. I would most definetly recommend buying this.

My thoughts on the Avon Mega Effect Mascara in Blackest Black
As soon as I ripped open my postal packaging (I couldn't hold my excitement any longer) I noticed a cute small black box. I was surprised that the box was quite simple and with small text adjustments to a simple box, made a big difference. The AVON logo was in shimmering silver. I thought the word "Mega" looked much more eye catching on the box because the text was in Uppercase (all capital letters) plus it had a printed 3D effect, while the word "effect" was in standard text, while the word mascara was in smaller text.
The mascara base is pure black while the lid is hot pink and the two colours together are just eye catching and perfect. The mascara lid has "Mega Effects Mascara" printed on, exactly like the text printed on the box. As soon as you pull out the lid from the mascara, you will see a brush sticking out of the mascara. So the instructions that are given help you get familiar with the mascara and how to use the mascara to get the best out of your lashes. I will admit that the mascara does look complicated at first, but after the first try, it is much easier to use.
The mascara brush is known as Avon's "Wonderbrush" and I can finally see why they call this brush the wonderbrush, it sort of looks like a mini paint brush for your lashes. I feel that this brush will definitely get your lashes looking amazing and make your eyes stand out more than usual. The brush provides lashes with 40% more mascara, plus the brush allows perfect application with no more messy globs of mascara and no more tails of mascara. I really love the grips on the mascara brush because it allows more control and makes it easier to use.
I found the bristles on the mascara brush to be perfectly shaped to allow an amazing application. The texture of the mascara is quite thin but even with one coat you can see a magnificent amount of volume. When I tested out the mascara I felt it took a few seconds to properly dry, so I'd recommend keeping lashes still straight after application to avoid smudging. The best part about the Avon Mega Effects mascara is that it is ophthalmologist tested, so if you have sensitive eyes, it is still perfectly safe because there is no irritation or discomfort. Plus when you're removing your mascara, the Mega Effects Mascara literally melts under eye make up remover.

I would really recommend you give the Mega Effects Mascara a try, firstly because it gives lashes the most amazing volume ever, plus the mascara is easy to use. Even though the mascara looks a little scary at first, I promise once you've tried this mascara, you won't look back because this gives lashes everything you ever wanted. It makes eyes look more vibrant and makes lashes look darker. The mascara is long lasting and is sweat proof so it's perfect if you're off in the sun which is great because Summer is around the corner. The mascara is smaller than regular mascaras which makes it much easier to keep in your hand bag or clutch bag if you're off to a party.
Avon stated that the new Mega Effects Mascara will give you bold lashes with panoramic volume. Eyes look bigger and lashes look darker, denser and more dramatic. Clump-proof, sweat-proof, non-flaking and non-smudging. - I say this is 100% TRUE! This mascara is nothing short of magical. It is really a mascara you should have. How it all started:
I could hardly contain the excitement when Kelly sent me the mail to tell me that I was chosen to review the Avon mega effects, not yet released, mascara. I literally almost jumped out of my skin. **** tzar bursts out laughing*****Now, at this point I have to say that I am a huge fan of Avon make up. It’s reasonably priced and we are really spoilt for choice. When I saw the latest range they launched, I just melted; it’s all so beautifully designed with amazing colours; it’s true that Avon adds colour and beauty to the world of makeup.
Like a good reviewer, I collected my mascara today and ripped open the package to reveal.................
The product:
Ta da: Avon Mega Effects mascara in blackest black. Wow, how did they know that this was my absolute favourite colour? Aawwwww I am so impressed. Avon has designed a unique and sexy little mascara brush unlike any other manufacturer. Critics are calling it the ‘Brush of the Future’. Most mascara manufacturers have the basic wand design with the curvaceous brush at the end. But not Avon; their brush design is way more sophisticated and catered to the needs of any mascara lover. It’s shaped like a little paint brush knows as the one and only ‘Wonderbrush’. The ‘Wonderbrush’ bends and adjusts to multiple angles capturing every lash, top to bottom. The unique brush fits the natural shape of lashes, coating them evenly with formula from root to tip. The bristles are soft and flexible; it just glides over my lashes and conforms to the shape of my eyes, no clumps, no mess, and no fuss. The extra surface area of the Wonderbrush bristles are designed to deliver 40% more mascara to the lash and delivers incredible volume, wow. Plus, and this is very big ladies, I only need one coat, not 3 or 4 like usual. What a great feature! Great color and coverage too, so quick and easy to apply.
10/10 to Avon for coming up with this amazing design. It must have been created and designed by a woman, there is absolutely no doubt. I think this is an absolute first in the world of mascara. Well done Avon.
The package:
Did I forget to mention just how gorgeous the packaging has been done? What can I say that the packaging doesn’t already say for itself? One look at the mascara packaging and you can tell it's different in so many ways. It’s sexy, simple yet sophisticated and makes a lovely addition to my make up bag. It’s so small and versatile I guarantee it will fit any handbag or purse size. (Just kidding) The red and black color combination is so striking and appealing; you will not be able to miss this hot little number when shopping for it. This reminds me, I need to keep this precious little item safe from female colleagues and my sisters. If they were to learn of its existence in my possession it will, like we say in Afrikaans, ‘kry voete’ or vanish without a trace. Lol
Zharina’s step-by-step guide to using the Avon Mega effects Mascara 101
Ok, I have to make a confession here; I totally suck at applying mascara. The first time I applied this mascara I made a huge mess and ended up with Panda eyes, lol and I struggled a bit to get the brush out ***Tzar giggles**** Only after reading the instructions did I finally come to terms with the whole lever, and pulling the brush out of the container thing. Anyway, here goes:
Step 1: Remove the cap of the mascara. This is the red part on top

I could hardly contain the excitement when Kelly sent me the mail to tell me that I was chosen to review the Avon mega effects, not yet released, mascara. I literally almost jumped out of my skin. **** tzar bursts out laughing*****Now, at this point I have to say that I am a huge fan of Avon make up. It’s reasonably priced and we are really spoilt for choice. When I saw the latest range they launched, I just melted; it’s all so beautifully designed with amazing colours; it’s true that Avon adds colour and beauty to the world of makeup.
Like a good reviewer, I collected my mascara today and ripped open the package to reveal.................
The product:
Ta da: Avon Mega Effects mascara in blackest black. Wow, how did they know that this was my absolute favourite colour? Aawwwww I am so impressed. Avon has designed a unique and sexy little mascara brush unlike any other manufacturer. Critics are calling it the ‘Brush of the Future’. Most mascara manufacturers have the basic wand design with the curvaceous brush at the end. But not Avon; their brush design is way more sophisticated and catered to the needs of any mascara lover. It’s shaped like a little paint brush knows as the one and only ‘Wonderbrush’. The ‘Wonderbrush’ bends and adjusts to multiple angles capturing every lash, top to bottom. The unique brush fits the natural shape of lashes, coating them evenly with formula from root to tip. The bristles are soft and flexible; it just glides over my lashes and conforms to the shape of my eyes, no clumps, no mess, and no fuss. The extra surface area of the Wonderbrush bristles are designed to deliver 40% more mascara to the lash and delivers incredible volume, wow. Plus, and this is very big ladies, I only need one coat, not 3 or 4 like usual. What a great feature! Great color and coverage too, so quick and easy to apply.
10/10 to Avon for coming up with this amazing design. It must have been created and designed by a woman, there is absolutely no doubt. I think this is an absolute first in the world of mascara. Well done Avon.

Did I forget to mention just how gorgeous the packaging has been done? What can I say that the packaging doesn’t already say for itself? One look at the mascara packaging and you can tell it's different in so many ways. It’s sexy, simple yet sophisticated and makes a lovely addition to my make up bag. It’s so small and versatile I guarantee it will fit any handbag or purse size. (Just kidding) The red and black color combination is so striking and appealing; you will not be able to miss this hot little number when shopping for it. This reminds me, I need to keep this precious little item safe from female colleagues and my sisters. If they were to learn of its existence in my possession it will, like we say in Afrikaans, ‘kry voete’ or vanish without a trace. Lol

Ok, I have to make a confession here; I totally suck at applying mascara. The first time I applied this mascara I made a huge mess and ended up with Panda eyes, lol and I struggled a bit to get the brush out ***Tzar giggles**** Only after reading the instructions did I finally come to terms with the whole lever, and pulling the brush out of the container thing. Anyway, here goes:

This mascara truly worked its magic with my eyes. I was a bit sceptical when it came to applying it, as I just wasn't accustomed to this applicator brush. But, i quickly adapted to this nifty little design "wand". It gets to the corners with ease and after some practice, i find that i prefer this new design to the old wand.
The product does everything it claims and after using it for a whole week, all i can say is that I'm a very happy customer. The product didn't flake, or go clumpy or even smudge after my workouts. It stays and looks fabulous all day long :)

Thank you to Beauty Bulletin and Avon for giving us the opportunity to try and review the latest innovation in the world of lashes. Introducing the Avon Mega Effects mascara with the 1st ever Wonderbrush, which helps speed up the process of mascara application tremendously.
I must admit that when I first saw the packaging for the product, I was a bit blown away as so much thought and effort had gone into it. The plastic tube is a sleek black with a shocking pink applicator. This resembles a toy paint brush and the handle is able to bend to make it more comfortable for people to customise the angle that suits them best.
It does take a bit of getting used to but once you practice a few times you will wonder how you ever managed without it. It even comes with instructions on a paper insert to guide you through the process which is certainly attention to detail. It even clicks close so it will not leak in your bag. My lashes are looking a lot fuller and it does not flake even after many hours of wear.
I am most impressed with the quality of the mascara and ease of application. So well done Avon!

As I previously mentioned on Beauty Bulletin, I was in dire need of a new mascara. I have basically tried everything on the market, different brands, different shades and all of the mascara's I have tried, basically came out with the same type of effect.
I was blessed with long lashes, but come of late, they really started to bug me. The mascara I used actually made my eyelashes look as if they were untamed, going off in different directions. Weird...
I was stoked to find out that the Beauty Bulletin team had chosen me to receive a mascara by Avon which was a world first in this type of technology. I love new technology no matter what kind.
So I made an effort to pick up my new mascara yesterday afternoon instead of over the weekend. I saw previous reviews and pictures so I knew what to expect when I opened the box...right...WRONG! I was completely blown away at the look of this product.
First of all, the tube is rectangular instead of the usual barrel tube, the colour of it was hypnotically hot pink and black almost sort of a burlesque colour, which I love. The brush was almost alien like. Something that looks like a paint brush, but also looks like some sort of decorative ornament :)
I couldn't wait to try it. I had no where to go, but I had to use it immediately. So I went on to Beauty Bulletin and watch the "How to" video which made it seem so easy.
Surprisingly, do not let the complicated look of the brush deceive you, this was such an easy to use applicator. One brush of this applicator/brush had my entire lash line covered in one swipe. I wanted more...so I swiped again, and my lashes now seemed thicker and fuller and not just longer as expected. The Blackest Black colour actually made my lash line seem a bit shimmery as well. I promise I was not seeing things.
I admit though, it was a bit hard to apply the mascara to my lower lash line, but practice makes perfect right?
Eventually, my husband came into the room to see what all the shrieks of happiness were for. He took one look at my eyes and he told me they look really beautiful. So naturally I started smiling again. I am going to be using my new Mega Effects mascara to create that hypnotic effect for my fallen angel costume for halloween. I mean what better way to make a statement than that!
The price of the mascara, I found out is R100 which is a huge bargain for something as innovative and world first as this product. I expected it to be around R199.

I was very excited to try out this new Avon Mega Effects mascara and was unusually surprised with the results. When you look at it, it doesn’t look like your typical mascara – the packaging is innovative, cool and practical. To apply it, I had to remove the cap and then take the mascara out of its container. The smell is not aggressive and the texture is not too dense and creamy, but more light and watery I find it lifts, curls and adds volume to every lash I have. The design is different and I need a little more practice using the wand especially trying to coat my tiny bottom lashes with it. It lasts all day and doesn't come off until I use my eye makeup remover. The best thing about this mascara is that you can put it in the smallest of purses or beauty bags and it is ideal for travelling.

WOW!!! That is really all I have to say about this mascara. You have not used and loved mascara until you have tried this product girls. But for the sake of a review and in the hope to try to convince any body who reads this I shall elaborate further.
When receiving this mascara in the post i was so excited i could not wait to get home!! Really though I ripped it open in the car and applied it at the first robot. Yes I'm that girl.
Ok, I admit I battled a bit at first to remove the wand from the mascara bottle, but that I hacked quickly once I read the "rock it " instruction. (if all else fails, read the instructions my mom always says) Once I had it out the adjustable handle made for great application to both top and bottom lashes. Not how girls, but from corner to corner!! ( I know right all I ever wanted! ) the bristles are just what I love in a mascara. The hard silicone type instead of a soft brush type. This allowed for minimum clumping of the lashes along with the great consistency of the product itself. It is slightly wetter than a normal mascara but I loved it once again. I found I only needed one coat but if applying two I would advise allowing some drying time.
Once home, Playing around I found that using this mascara in conjunction with those pesty little eyelash curlers actually made hardly any difference. This product definitely improved my lashes with length and volume.
I also put this mascara through every girls major tests.
1. This mascara wears all day (including gym!) without smudging.
2. Night out? Perfect every time! A night out dancing proved to be no match!!
3. Tired? lazy? Naughty? Guilty! I slept with this mascara one night (cough, as a test!) and woke up with not a smudge! No I'm not joking
4. It removes easily with your everyday facial wipes or a quick wash with warm water.
5. My eyes also often burn with many major brands of mascara but I can honestly say this mascara didn't even tingle.
6. It wears light (doesn't feel like you cant blink)
So there you have it. What are you waiting for?
If only Avon could develop a man this incredible the world would be a happier place. But for now make your everyday a little bit easier and look FAB!

FINAL FINDINGS: If you are looking for a mascara that will stay put throughout the day and withstand a good cry session, this is the one for you. It will not break the bank, irritate your eyes or make your lashes appear clumpy and give them that sticky feel. Be patient and prepared to apply more than one layer. As mascara claims go, this one lived 90% up to my expectations, which is quite amazing!

As I age I have less and less eyelashes and this mascara actually makes my eyelashes look full,separate,darker and it adds lots of length and volume,which I'm down for because I'm a lady who wants that dramatic look

Just one coat and it pushes and gets all my lashes at one time,leaving my eyelashes looking wonderful and noticeable!I love It!

I'm loving this mascara!!I have sensitive eyes and have tried various brands of mascaras and to be honest I was very skeptical about Avon!
It has surprised me in many ways, firstly I opened the mascara and I have to admit, at first it took a little getting used to but by the second use it was fine! I love the deep shade of Black that outlined my eyes very nicely, it did not clump even though I put on a second application(for more effect). It stayed the entire day and mind you considering the rain lately, it did well!
It also grabs even the smallest eyelashes, even though it doesn't feel that way. The price is reasonable and fairly easy to obtain because you order via an Avon representative. So you getting it delivered to you!! I think its good value! I suggest you ladies keep the brushes when the mascara is finished because it combs the eyebrows very nicely!

I received this product through Beauty Bulletin... unfortunately I only got to the post office after the due date for the review!
I used the mascara this morning for the first time. It applied quite easily and didn't leave any clumps! I love the fact that the handle can bend to suit which angle you want to use it at.
The only downfall I found was that the mascara is quite messy... I'm not sure if that was because I was in a rush or if it's meant to be that "liquidy" and very very messy!
Overall it's an awesome product and I'd definitely tell people to try it!

I love the mascara packaging its small and cute and fits almost anywhere, not to mention it looks elegant and expensive at the same time.It did take me a while to get the mascara open which resulted in me reading the leaflet and that helped.
I absolutely love the mascara, its so simple and quick to put on. It go's on easily and makes my lashes long and beautiful. I would definitely recommend NEW Avon Mega Effects Mascara.

I must admit I had my doubts about the new design and how easy it would be to apply the mascara, but after trying it for the first time, I was completely convinced that this was an amazing product! It adds length and really makes they eyes POP! It does not smudge or run. I constantly receive compliments when wearing it. I especially prefer wearing it during the day when it gets so hot here in Pretoria and make-up has a tendency to smudge. LOVE IT!!

I have been trialing this for two days already and I must admit I love it! Initially before I receieved it and saw online pictures I was a lil freaked at the idea of putting such a large looking brush at a wierd angle to my eye, but my fears were silly.
By the second stroke I was doing fine, much more control than the normal brushes. I have long eyelashes and this really helped then stand out and gave them an added curl without the curling tongs.
Nice black dark colour and it has great lasting/staying power. I havent been in the rain or cried with them, so I dont know how it will fair with that- but great under 35 degree heat yesterday.
The package is smaller than I expected but easy and great to pack away or through in a bag. Also like the brush, novel idea. Great that the top of the 'tube' where you put the brush into the mascara stops air and takes off excess mascara.
There isnt anything I don't like about it besides the name - they could of had something original for such a unoriginal brush idea. It sounds like every other new mascara on the market.
Love how the brushes seperate the lashes as well but the movable handle is great and not so great at the same time - I can adjust position put when you push a lil too hard when applying it did change position and I almost took had it all smudged into my eye.
I also like that I could turn it on the side ( vertical ) and apply to ends that I missed easily ( I do this with most mascaras ) and it was easier than the normal brushes.
Great product that I think needs more mainstream marketing to get off the ground.
I would buy this product at R99.95 easily

I love this mascara it really is user friendly and coats the lashes without much effort, making them thicker and longer. The design is great even for the ladies that are just getting into makeup. I just wish it was waterproof, then it would be the mother of all mascaras.

As first I was a little hesitant about this mascara, but once I got the knack of it, I absolutely love it. It is very effective from the first coat. It is definitely not one that needs more than 1-2 coats to create a very dramatic effect. I recommend it to add to ones mascara collection & use when you only have a few seconds to apply mascara but want a very effective look. for me it delivers exactly what it says - a MEGA EFFECT. It is worth persevering as it is not the usual, but your endeavours will be rewarded.

When it arrived, I was quite puzzled on how to ‘open’ or even ‘use’ the mascara. After a couple of tries and not reading any instructions (cos I’m lazy like that!) I eventually discovered it’s a dip and a pull.
Look at the unique brush I was super excited to try it out.
Ok so after a few tries, I think I’ve now mastered the art of using this ‘unique brush’ – cos upon trying the mascara the 1st and 2nd time, it smudged an I found it very uncomfortable in my hand. The way I needed to manoeuvre was a bit difficult, but its ok now.
I like that the mascara comes out evenly on the brush with no bundle on one side. My only concern is how much is in the container
I love the fact that I can just add on this mascara, for me, it takes about the ‘right amount’ of lashes to make them appear full and long.
One thing though…. I wish it was waterproof.

Opening my mascara for the first time was quite a mission and the design was quite different to what I was used to but as I continued to wear it, i fell more and more in love. Apply one coat for a daytime look and two or three layers for sexy, night out look! Will definitely add this to my make up supplies permanently!

I was just about to order the new sensationally REVOLUTIONARY Mascara from my Avon Brochure when my mum handed over a familiar white envelope to me. I was super excited as I didn’t receive any messages from BB indicating that id been chosen to review a new product, I later learnt that with BB’s make-over my messages are no longer received through my email. So I no longer had to purchase the mascara but I did have to get reviewing, the mascara is on special at the moment for R99.99.
I tore open the envelope to find the black Avon box with its signature white text. How very “keeping up with the Joan’s” (Kardashians are more what I keep up with though) of Avon to incorporate the covetable monochrome look into their packaging. The emphasis on “MEGA” is dually noted and I knew I was in for a mind-blowing treat! I was stoked to see I’d received the mascara in blackest black as I’m not the biggest fan of brown mascara.
The mascara itself is very new in terms of size, shape, brush, formula and design. It’s the first revolution made to mascara in ages and has definitely caused a frenzy amongst the cosmetic conscience.
The mascara is packaged in a black and red squishy almost tippex looking contraption that’s easy on the eye and very different compared to conventional mascaras. The black base is made of a softer plastic and can be squeezed whilst the red lid is hard and keeps the stalk of the applicator safe and protected. Between the base and lid is a shiny black plastic band that has AVON written in white. The red lid has MEGA effects done in black which is very striking. As this is the biggest stir to mascaras and it creates big results I love how AVON has played this up with the emphasis on the word MEGA. The red lid fits on snuggly with a click and does need some persistence to pull open; I suggest pulling to the side rather than up to de-clip.
Once open, the mascara gets even weirder looking and a bendable handle is staring at me. I’m a bit perplexed and so decide to read through the handy instruction leaflet that came with the product within the box.
So, you need to rock the brush from side-to-side and then pull out. This was easier to read than accomplish and I learnt the valuable need of Avon’s to include those little raised dots over half the handle and the base of the bristles. These little dots help your finger grip onto the handle to pull it out the base. Once this was established and achieved I was now staring at a very peculiar “brush”. This is more a bunch of bristles strategically placed to achieve a result more than the conventional mascara wand and brush. I love the fact that the “brush” is made of rubber as that’s my favourite type of bristles. They hold the most formula without wastage and can slide easily through every single eye lash.
The bristles are of different shapes and the length of the brush is much longer than normal mascaras. I appreciate the design of incorporating smaller bristles along the edges as they catch the edge eye lashes perfectly without getting them stuck together. The handle of the mascara can be bent to suit your preferred angle which makes the application strange on the first time. I’ve used this mascara about 5 times now and am still struggling with the handling of the brush. The brush is ergonomically designed for both comfort and control. Even though I struggle with the brush, I still find getting my lashes coated from root to tip very successful. Due to the unique design, mascara can now be applied in 12 different angles, SERIOUSLY!
The formula is as black as I’ve ever seen! This is very very very striking both on the bristles and on your lashes. You might think you normal mascara is very black but puh-lease darlings, that would look brown when compared to the MEGA effects hue! It’s a clump-free, seat proof, non-flaking, non-smudging and ophthalmology tested formula that delivers the finest quality. The mascara is available in two shades at R189.95 each; Blackest Black and Brown Black. The formula is weaker in consistency than the average mascara and so can smudge onto fingers and eye-lids much easier. On my first application I had panda eyes with smudges everywhere, but the formula comes off easily with some make-up remover. I suggest a lot of practise or doing your mascara before the rest of your make-up if you haven’t mastered this brush yet.
My eyelashes looked coated in shiny black tar and they stayed that way throughout the day. I do love the consistency in this product and the brilliant true black of its colour. Due to its weaker/thinner formula, eyelashes look slick and coated with lustre. The formula is not harsh and goes on smoothly from root to tip without any clumping or blocking.
I’m normally a person who likes coating my mascara brush in a second round of mascara to achieve the most maximum results but this was difficult to do with this product as it is a hassle to put the wand back into the base and then wiggling it around and squeezing the base then pulling back out to apply; so needless to say I only used the one coat. Even with only one coat, my lashes were instantly longer and refined. I did feel that they gave me a very noticeable false lash look as it sort of gathers the strands of lashes into sections. This I found not to be appealing as I tend to gravitate to a full, wide, separated and natural fan look when using mascara. This mascara gives an iconic “Twiggy” look and I’m more of a Khloe Kardashian kinda girl.
This is a fantastic addition to the evolution of mascara and the many different looks one can achieve. It wouldn’t be my first choice for a day look but I will pull this out when the night calls and I need to paint the town red! It’s also a great go-to when you need a false-lash effect and want to stand out from the crowd with lashes that take-off! I am impressed with AVON’s trueness in them saying it’s a MEGA effects mascara as it definitely gives users a MEGA look and appeal; it merely needs to be used for the right occasion; although some women can rock this look at any time, any day!

Got my mascara last week and tried it out over the weekend - VA VA VOOOM my lashes looked awesome. The highlight for me is that you can carry this in your bag and it won't take up any space. I also love how you can angle the head to the perfect position for precision use. Its definitely cuteness in a bottle, the little brush is too cute and having to just move the handle of the brush whilst its in the bottle from left to right is better than having to pump the brush in and out or screw lid in and screw lid out in order to get mascara on the brush. And the base is soft too so you can give it a gentle squeeze before you twist left to right and take the brush out to sweep base to tip along your lashes - 10 thumbs up Avon - excellent product

After receiving Avon's Mega Effects Mascara as a gift from my mom on Christmas, I was like I don't use "no-name" products.
We'll after looking at the cool packaging and the unique design and how well it fits right next to my cellphone in my tiny clutch bag, I gave it a shot.
Having sensitive skin I'm not open to trying anything.
We'll let me tell you! It is the best product I have ever used.
The mascara fits easily into the palm of your hand while the other to removes the brush from the holder.
Best design ever, the brush can bend to suit your position or style of applying. The broad brush is perfect for those who do the morning time rush and who have not mastered the application process as yet.

I received my Avon Mega Effects Mascara and used it for the first time today ... this product is absolutely amazing! The unique design of the brush allows for a one-step, clump free application. With the typically-designed mascara brushes on the market, you sometimes need to do individual lashes, so as not to be left with clumped eyelashes. This Avon mascara eliminates the need to do that as the brush covers the entire lash area with one easy swipe.
And the stunning pink packaging is a definite eye-catcher!

I have tried so many mascaras... very excited upon purchase... very disappointed at first use. The Mega Effects Mascara is not that kind of purchase! I've used it this week - varying weather conditions from hot and dry to muggy and misty... nothing changed. It went on without clumps (YAY!!!!); stayed on my lashes (DOUBLE YAY!!!) and looked as good at 07h30 after gym as it did at 21h30 when it came off really easily (TRIPLE YAY!!!). Well done Avon on an amazing product that ticks ALL the boxes!

I received my Avon Mascara at the post office today. huge thanks to Beauty Bulletin for this amazing product! i applied it and immediately a lot of product transferred to my lashes and left me looking glamorous. i put it on at 11am and just washed it off now at 11pm and the product really stayed on ALL DAY LONG. i am so impressed!

The Pros:
The wand is quite unique and is definitely designed to amp up the volume. If you are looking for volume and you like quite a ‘wet’ mascara then you will like this one. It also gave a fair bit of length to my lashes. I also liked that it didn't flake or smudge at all during the day. It creates quite a false lash effect, and is perfect for doing your bottom lashes. I actually keep reaching for this again and again because it makes my lashes really pop. I don't mind the cleaning up afterwards if I've got the time to apply it, which is why I gave this mascara a good rating.
The Cons:
It depends on how your lashes naturally lie, but for me I found the mascara clumped quite a bit initially because my lashes naturally grow in weird directions. Because the wand picks up a lot of product I found it quite messy to use and had to do quite a bit of cleaning up afterwards along my upper lash line and below my eyes. It does well with volume and with length, but doesn't add much curl. It lost one star for messiness.

I was thrilled to receive my Mega Effects Mascara and so excited I jumped into my car, flapped my visor mirror open and grabbed my package. I was super confused as to how to get it open so proceeded to read my "how to" leaflet inside the box. Easy peasy! I LOVE the applicator brush - I don't risk brushing my eye ball, it gets to all my lashes with 2 sweeps and is really effective! The brush is also manoeuvrable so can angle it until I'm comfortable to apply. I'm in love and would never be able to go back to my stick applicators again.

I'm loving this mascara!!I have sensitive eyes and have tried various brands of mascaras and to be honest I was very skeptical about Avon!
It has surprised me in many ways, firstly I opened the mascara and I have to admit, at first it took a little getting used to but by the second use it was fine! I love the deep shade of Black that outlined my eyes very nicely, it did not clump even though I put on a second application(for more effect). It stayed the entire day and mind you considering the rain lately, it did well!
It also grabs even the smallest eyelashes, even though it doesn't feel that way. The price is reasonable and fairly easy to obtain because you order via an Avon representative. So you getting it delivered to you!! I think its good value! I suggest you ladies keep the brushes when the mascara is finished because it combs the eyebrows very nicely!

My oh my was I indeed excited to try this out. There has been such a buzz about this it makes every women so curious about it.
Avon's mega effects mascara that not only provides for 24 hour volume, but makes your lashes more darker, lustrous and dramatic than ever before. A sure winner wouldn't you say?
Now lets talk about it, the brush is able to bend and adjust to angles which will capture every lash and goes deep down to ensure mascara is applied for root to tip. The brush fits perfect to the lashes and evenly coats them from the root to the tip. And also the handle is able to adjust so it will be easier to use. Also they say the brush is able to provide 40% more mascara to the lashes, I will let you decide as everyones lashes and eye shape differ. I have some Avon pics to indicate more on this.
The mascara is wet so it might take abit to dry and one can apply another coat if desired.

I couldn't wait to open and try out the mascara when I collected from the post office, after all the applicator looked interesting.
The black packaging is quite sophisticated and the black & pink container is eye catching.
I struggled a bit to remove the applicator, but that was because I didn't read the instructions first. A little wiggling from side to side and that baby comes out easily.
Application:
The applicator took some getting used to, but once I had the hang of it, applying to top and bottom lashes was a breeze. Also, it only took 1 coat to get the effect I normally get from 2 - 3 coats of my normal mascara. I also liked the way the brush was able to get to that little lashes in the inner corner of my eyes.
Quality:
The texture is wonderful, no clumps and my lashes did not feel heavy. There was no flaking and raccoon eyes (black circles under eyes)by the end of the day. The colour is superb as well.
This mascara delivers on it's promises. It really left my lashes darker, denser and more dramatic.
As a loyal Avon mascara user, this is my new go too mascara
