It seems, I’m quiet the sucker for Avon and their facial masks. I was so fascinated when I saw the ad for this mask that I ordered two immediately!

This mask goes on liquid and once dry peels off like rubber. It claims to visibly reduces the look of pores by 95% after 1 week if used twice a week after cleansing.
The mask is of a squidgy gel consistency and is very sticky. I found it quiet difficult to spread onto my face as it kept getting stuck to my fingers instead. Although the ad in the Avon brochure shows the mask as being a vibrant blue colour, the mask is actually very pale in colour and once dry is actually closer to clear in colour than any blue.

The tube and box is very clean and refined with a clinical look due to its silver, grey and dark blue aesthetics. For R45 I would say that a mere 30ml is not satisfactory, a decent amount of 50ml would better suit the price. The tube has a clear flip lid and when squeezed emits the gelish mask.

To use: spread a thick layer of the gel mask onto your nose, T-zone, forehead and chin. After about 20min, lift one side of the strip (the mask dried at the edge of the nose works well for this step) and slowly peel off. Rinse any excess left over on skin. The mask is meant to effectively pull out blackheads, dirt and oil.

On my first use of the mask I was horrified with the results. From application to rinse-off, using this product was a nightmare. Firstly, the mask too sticky and gooey to be appealing to me, it felt cold on application and tacky. I also experienced an allergic reaction to the formula so it made the experience very un-comfortable. As recommended, I applied a relatively thick layer and waited around 35min for it to dry completely. This looked terrible and not at all as demonstrated in the brochure. The areas of my face covered in the mask looked cracked and scaly as compared to a thick rubbery layer to of mask to peel away. Removing the mask was extremely difficult as it dried thinner than a sheet of paper and resembled cling wrap stuck onto my face.

It was very painful to try and pull the mask off. It tugged and stuck onto my skin fiercly. I eventually resorted to washing it off with some warm water as my skin was on fire from pulling the mask off.

Ive used the mask once after that, and applied even more than was required but to the same end results. My skin did not look cleaner or more refined. My skin was actually very dry, red and irritated on the areas the mask was applied.

This is one Avon face mask I will not be purchasing again, it may work brilliantly for you but un-fortunately it didn’t on me. My brother and mum have both also not enjoyed using this product and we all continue to stick to the black clay Avon mask instead.
