It is absolutely amazing - doesn't smudge and gives a lot of volume! I received the black/brown mascara (have never tried a brown mascara before) and it looks amazing. For me it is primarily a day mascara, as it is not as pitch black as the mascara I prefer for night time use. Very easy to apply and dries quickly. A bit trick to get off using just face wash, but make up remover does the trick. The lipstick (Avon Bare Impact) is nice and soft on the lips, but it doesn't last very long. While I usually prefer a nude colour for my lips, I actually felt this one was a bit too dull; it had no shimmer or shine. I have been given the below 2 products to review: 1. Avon Ultra Bold Colour Lipstick – Rapid Rose 2. Avon Big Daring Mascara - Black Packaging: 1. The exterior of the lipstick is just as good as the interior. I immediately tested the opening of the cap and the twist functionality of the applicator. I also like the black and silver packaging that gives it a more sophisticated and bold appeal. 2. I enjoy the packaging of the Big Daring mascara as it makes for a good grip. The applicator brush also is the correct type and size to add maximum benefit in ensuring bold, daring eyelashes. Feel: 1. The application of the lipstick is very smooth and because the colour is so bold and intense, minimal effort and less application is required to get an even spread on the lips. 2. At first it was good and coated the eyelashes well, until I felt that it dried out and a second application is needed for it to not feel dry and flake. Lasting: 1. The lipstick is not matt, neither is it a high gloss - which is the perfect balance that you want from a lipstick that is this bold. The last thing you want is for it to be too glossy and it ends up looking tacky or for it to be too matt and you still have the reminiscence of it on your lips for 3 days to come! That ends up also looking tacky. I personally use softer nudes and more natural colours and mainly matt colours with a bit of gloss on sometimes, however this is a great switch up for the Spring/Summer. I applied in the morning and it lasted the whole day. Pretty sure it’ll last the whole of Spring and Summer too. 2. When I applied the mascara, the lasting effect seemed to have been great, until I noticed that later on during the day it started to flake off. This is weird to me because I know that lipstick and other makeup may need to be applied more than twice a day in cases, but I’ve never done it for mascara. It’s like it almost got dry and I felt that it was drying out my eyelashes too. ? Tips: 1. I dabbed a finger over my lips and blended it into the area of my cheek bones that’s close to my hairline. 2. Apply over the top of the eyelashes first and then from the underneath in an upward motion to get a more even coating and bigger daring curl effect. This will need to be done twice a day due to the drying nature of the mascara. Even though the lipstick colour doesn't fully suit my skin tone, I decided to continue using it with a darker Avon gloss over. The mascara is a lot larger than expected, the wand is encased in a shiny black container with silver trim. The mascara closes with an audible click so you know that it’s securely shut. This helps prevent it drying out, which I think is a definite plus. I particularly like the handle of the wand as it’s almost rectangular/pyramid shaped, which allows for a firmer grip. The large bristled wand is a definite bonus as the bristles are shaped to separate lashes and build volume. It is also curved to adapt to lashes and give it more shape. The mascara goes on with ease and is immediately effective in coating the lashes and separating them. The brush is a bit large for shorter (bottom) lashes, so a bit more care is needed. I prefer a shorter bristle brush for bottom lashes. I didn’t experience any clumping, which was a real pleasure. I would recommend two coats for fuller lashes and no drying time between applications as I found that my lashes got very “stick”-like and trying to apply mascara to dry lashes, just ended up pulling them. My lashes were so stiff after application that it really felt a bit uncomfortable at first, but the results were outstanding. The before and after photos are a clear indication of how effective the mascara can be. Washing the mascara off my lashes proved a bit of a challenge. It was incredibly difficult to remove (I guess that’s a bonus if you’re a crier, LOL!), but really frustrating when you’re in a hurry. I found wetting my lashes and allowing them to soak a while before washing with soap as the most effective method in removing it completely. I usually get rid of the residual raccoon eyes with a bit of moisturiser. I’m not sure if I’d purchase this for day-to-day wear, but it certainly is a winner for active folk who don’t like a mascara that smudges due to humidity. I used it on stage and it stayed put for hours. So, I’d give it a thumbs-up for staying-power, but only if you like hard lashes. BONUS: It’s fragrance free! ? no nasty smells. In order to give a fair account of the products, I will be a bit more thorough in my review and give a somewhat tedious amount of detail so that you can make an informed decision about whether this product is suitable for you or not. Avon Ultra Colour Bold Lipstick in Berry Bold: As the name suggests, Berry Bold is indeed bold and such a pretty colour. It’s warm, rich colour is very appealing (it’s the shade I’d usually favour for nail polish). After application, I thought that it was way too “loud” on my skin as I’m quite fair and the colour was a bit too bold for my taste, but I decided to be daring as this was my opportunity to experiment. Besides, I was heading out for a gig and it is the norm to wear heavy, darker makeup on stage because of the lighting, otherwise you can look a bit washed-out. The lipstick glides on smoothly, is really moist and creamy and is colour-true. It looks on the lips exactly like it does in the applicator. This was a bonus, as I often find that the colour of the wand is not the same when applied to my lips. I guess it really depends on the natural colour of your lips, but I like it when the colour I use, is the same on my lips as is presented. Working in an air-conditioned office, I find my lips tend to be dry, so this moist lipstick was a welcome relief as some lipsticks tend to dry my lips even more. Unfortunately, because of its rich texture, the lipstick does bleed a bit, so I had to apply a lip liner to keep it in place, but that’s a small price to pay for a pretty colour that stays moist. Because it’s pigment-rich, I found it had great staying-power and I didn’t need to reapply during the evening. Having said that, I didn’t have anything to eat, just to drink. However, when dining out, the colour doesn’t stick quite as well, but the level of coverage is still good and a light touch-up is all that’s required. All in all, I’d give this lipstick a 10/10 as it really does deliver what it promises. Packaging: Boxed in simple, yet stylish packaging, in black and bright cerise pink. The lipstick itself, is encased in a shiny black container with silver trim, which makes it a stylish item for your handbag. The action of the mechanism to turn the lipstick in and out, is smooth and the cap clicks in place when closed. I particularly like this feature and the sturdiness of the lipstick casing as some of my other lipsticks have on occasion lost their caps in my handbag because they weren’t closed securely or cracked due to inferior material and craftsmanship. It is clear that Avon has given a lot of attention to detail to making not only the inside of the product special, but also designing the container in which it is packaged. The lipstick colour I received was Coral Burst. It has a soft creamy texture, even though it's a matte lipstick so my lips didn't dry out. It was quite long lasting and didn't transfer onto the glass that I was drinking, which I thought was absolutely fantastic. The colour itself is very bold. It's a mix of orange and bright red. Surprisingly it seemed to work. I applied a light coat of the lipstick and I outlined my lips with a deep red (almost maroonish) lipliner and I blended the two. So I was quite happy with the end result. The deep red seemed to even out the brightness of the shade and the end result was perfect. This one is definitely a keeper and a great addition to my HUGE lipstick collection. They are also quite reasonably priced so I would highly recommend anyone to try this range. A big thumbs up and 5 stars from me for this lipstick. The Big & Daring Volume Mascara was a bit disappointing. It doesn't quite live up to its name. I had to apply two coats to get the desired big and bold effect. After applying two coats, my lashes felt heavy- not a very nice feeling. The brush was uncomfortable to use, because of its curved shape. I would have preferred the brush to be straight and the bristles wider - perhaps that would have given the bold look. The mascara scores 2 stars from me. I once applied it before 8am and by 10am after 2 cups of coffee and cereal there was still a pink colour to my lips. Adds a pop of colour to your face therefore the rest of your make up can be simple. The pink makes my eye colour brighter. The price – at R69.95 it is a bargain!! Loathe: Nothing. Seriously! Big and Daring Volume Mascara in Brown / Black Love: Lengthens my eyelashes The price – at R64.95 it is a bargain!! Loathe: The size of the brush. I struggled to apply the mascara properly. You must apply more than one coat to get the desired effect. It gets clumpy very quickly. It does not come off easily! When applied with another mascara I eventually got the desired effect i.e. long and thick lashes. My overall thoughts: Both products are reasonably priced and I will definitely be checking out the other colours in the lip colour range. I got my eye on vivid violet! Ever since then, I have been searching for something similar and I finally found it in Avon's Bare Impact lipstick! I was so excited. I love the colour; however, it doesn't last. I have been wearing it for three hours and it's diminishing already. But I must say, I have had something to drink and it has stayed put. For the price I would however definitely buy this product. Mascara: I'm not a big fan of the mascara. It seems clumpy, even though it doesn't look like that in the photo I've uploaded. It does what it says, though...it really does last long before it starts to flake. The bottle has a nice shape and the wand is easy to handle, but I probably wouldn't use this again. It also comes in 10 vibrant colours, I would have loved to try the coral burst and pink punch, since I have become obsessed with bright lippies recently. As for the colour I received Max Mocha, I couldn't really make it work on most occasions. A brown lipstick, I just couldn't. One night surprisingly it worked with a harsh dramatic eye and a pulled back pony, but after that it never worked again. Sigh... I tried it with both one and two coats. I found two coats was a bit too fake for me, but one was amazing. Darkening of lashes, lengthening and volumising. False lash effect without the glue. I found the curved brush a bit messy, and required quite a bit of clean up. But it did add an extra flare and curl to my lashes. The dynamite brush is a curved brush that is meant to capture every lash to create explosive clump free volume. The wedge shaped bristles also capture every lash for explosive 360 degree volume. My lashes were well separated, and I am definitely pleased with this! Avon claims the mascara wont smudge or flake for up to 24 hours and it can resist heat and humidity, which means it will be great for summer. It is available in black and brown black. I definitely agree with the smudge and flake free, this mascara has staying power. I have never worn mascara for 24 hours, and I don't think anyone ever would need, but a good 12 hours for sure! When I first saw the colour I was a bit "oops, not quite me". I tried and found it to be bold okay! I have tried the Starburst Pink on its own for daytime (with very minimal other make-up) and found it okay (in terms of colour), perhaps too bold for my personality. However I have also mixed it up a bit and put one coat of Starburst Pink on my top lip and used a sheer type lipgloss for my bottom lip - NOW THAT EFFECT I LOVED! As regards the quality, it is probably one of the better lipsticks I have used - not too thick, I found it stays on nicely and best of all I didn't find the smell to be offensive! Would definitely recommend it to all the lipstick lovers out there, however for me personally I like my toned down version better. (Pic included is of full on bold lipstick.) How exciting? I received the Avon Lipstick in shade Starburst Pink to review and I have to admit, the shade really scared me. I really didn't like the strange, palish looking pink shade, but I tried the lipstick. I loved the formula, it's easy to apply and it's not drying at all - despite being a matte shade. I was really impressed with the formula that I decided to try two more shades in the range - Pink Punch and Bright Nectar. And these two colours really made me fall in love with the range! I love bright and bold colours and these two colours are exactly that - bright and bold. It didn't dry out my pout and lasted all days on my lips. I loved the statement I made with bright lips. I loved matching my outfits to my lipstick and I loved how confident my lipstick made me feel. I loved it so much that I convinced a few of my colleagues to buy the the two shades as well - and guess what? They loved it too. It is suitable for many seasons especially for the upcoming summer. The formula is pigmented, as you will notice after the first application that the lipstick colour comes off nicely on your lips. However, the lipstick is not full coverage. If you look closely a little bit of your natural lip colour is visible. The formula is buildable though and the more layers you apply on your lips the better the coverage. The lipstick is a little bit moisturizing. However, if worn for a long period of time I have notice that it made my lip a bit dryer. Verdict: I think you should definitely give Avon ultra colour bold lipstick a try. The regular price of these lipsticks are R139.95 each. Avon Big & Daring Volume Mascara This mascara comes in two shades, black and brown black. I would like to point out that I have not experimented with many mascaras. In fact I think this is the first mascara I have tried. The mascara I have tried is in black shade. The wand is a medium size and it has a curve shape. The shape of the wand is a nice guidance when applying mascara. However, the wand size does get the product on my eyelid or nose, If not applied carefully. In terms of the formula, it is amazing! With just one coat you will notice a difference. Your eyelashes will look fuller and longer. Also, avon states that this mascara won't smudge or flake for up to 24 hours, and it can resist heat and humidity. I have not worn this mascara for 24 hours but the time frame that I have worn this mascara, It has definitely not smudged or flaked. By the way, this mascara is really easy to remove. Verdict: If you are looking for a mascara that gives you length, does not smudge or flake and is easy to remove avon big & daring volume mascara is for you. Just be careful with the wand. Apart from being exceedingly beautiful, her makeup and clothes are always on point. I received the Avon dare to be lipstick in the shade BERRY BOLD. The colour is vibrant, bright and intense. It really does brighten up your face and does give you the added boost of confidence. The colour you see in the brochure is the exact colour that you will get on your lips upon application. Highly pigmented. Highly moisturising. High shine. Definitely living up to its expectations in that regard. The packaging is neat, modest, nothing too fancy. I'd have no qualms whipping this out of my handbag if I needed to reapply. What I did not love about this lipstick was that it was a bit too creamy. Due to its extra creamy texture, it tends to bleed a lot, especially on to my teeth and Chin. This unfortunately was a deal breaker for me. As beautiful as the colour is, I had to to constantly be looking into a mirror to ensure that no lipstick had bled into my teeth or on to the sides of me mouth. Will I purchase this lipstick? I highly doubt it. But i do believe that for R69,95 you are getting your money's worth. The Avon Big and Daring Volume Mascara - now this product I LOVE. You notice a difference upon initial application. The spoolie coats the lashes really well , separating the lashes as it goes along. My lashes look longer and thicker. The best way to apply it is whilst sitting near a fan or a window, and wait for the prior coat to dry before you apply the next to ensure minimal clumping . This way your mascara just builds on to your lashes giving it a more natural finish. The packaging is similar to the lipstick's. It's modest, modern and neat. I will definitely be adding this mascara to my list of favourites. I received Colour Bold Lipstick in Coral Burst and the Daring Volume Mascara in black.When I saw the colour of the lipstick I cringed!It looked orange to me!!And so I tried it on .... It looked incredible and felt more hydrating than my Labello!I like that this lipstick is super opaque, highly pigmented and that just one swipe could give you a rich, colourful swatch.The same "bold" rich colour you see on the lipstick is the same "bold" colour you see on your lips!Although its a matte lipstick it provides adequate moisture and does not crease into the fine lip lines.I used a chocolate brown lipliner from Charlie to neaten the edges and it really looked incredible So Avon took a "bold" step ahead in the colour industry as True Colour Technology is definitely achieved in this lipstick. To start with I loved the packaging and how well the wand is designed, I have more than my fair share of black smudges on the bridge of my nose or corners of my eye due to poorly designed wands. I didn't suffer this with this mascara which is fantastic. The formula is by far the best Avon have ever produced, it is the perfect balance of wetness and drying time, allowing you to build to your required level without the brush getting stuck half way though dried clumpy lashes. Once dry I found no transfer to either my upper lids or the area just below my eye, racoon is not a good look on anyone other than, well other than a racoon really so I was naturally thrilled with this. The mascara has great staying power, so much so they I would advise on using a good eye makeup remover when you're done. One the Big and Daring side, I did find it added loads of volume but fell a bit short in the lengthening department. That said it ticks more than enough of my boxes to be considered a dam good mascara! I decided patience was key and took my time prepping and lining which really pays off when being brazen. I was completely blown away, not only did I ADORE the shade but made a mental breakthrough in deciding my lipstick collection requires a makeover of its own. In the past I got a bit frustrated, as lipstick colours in their catalogue, never seemed to be the same in real life. 2) The lipstick glided on and definitely has a creamy texture. 3) I love the fact that it contains SPF15. We all need sun protection and so do our lips! 4) It did seem to last a bit longer than the other Avon lipsticks I have tried in the past, but still not as long as I would have liked. 5) The lipstick is highly pigmented. The colour is a bit ;light for my fair skin tone though, so I jazzed it up with a layer of Avon's metallic eyeshadow (yes eyeshadow :-) and added another layer lipstick. That was all rounded off with a darker shade glimmerstick in Brick. (As you can see on the pics). FINAL VERDICT: A definite improvement on colour pigmentation and last a bit longer than other Avon lipsticks. If you are looking for a hydrating lipstick, this is your answer. Would I buy another maybe darker colour in the range?...MAYBE. The lipstick had a bit of a waxy feel on my lips, which I disliked. Easily cover all the lashes in one quick move of the hand! 4) This mascara can truly be layered, as my pics at the bottom will indicate. I started with 1 layer and ended with 5, which gave me almost a false eyelash appearance. BOLD & LOVELY!!!!!! 5) The mascara is truly water resistant! I got a fleck of it (after 5 layers were applied) in my eye and had to rinse my eyes with saline. Most of the mascara was still there afterwards. 6) If you are going to follow in my bold footsteps & apply numerous layers, just be careful to not get any in your eyes, especially if you are a contact lens wearer. The lipstick is smooth, vibrant and lasts for a very long time! However I found that you HAVE to use a good lip liner with this colour as it bleeds quite badly if you don't. But with just one swipe, the colour was bold and vibrant! I wasn't very impressed with the mascara. For an Avon mascara I think it's probably better than the other ones, but compared to my usual Maybelline mascara I didn't like it. It does coat your eyelashes quite well but didn't make them as long as my other mascara does. Needless to say, coral burst is a beautiful colour, it's citrusy and works well with my skin tone. I lined my lips in brown and slapped the lipstick on. Honestly, I was afraid of how I would look. My lips peel easily if they are not moisturized properly but while wearing the lipstick I didn't encounter anything. The colour could do with a bit of gloss! The mascara promises volume and I got it. It doesn't clump and it's waterproof. I loved the brush with its curled shape making it easy to target even the smallest lash. I loved the effect I got but hot frustrated when I wanted to clean it off. My makeup remover didn't work and ended up irritating my eyes whilst trying to remove it. I later learned that coconut oil works and indeed the mascara was off. Love the smudgefree of the mascara. I would recommend it with a caution that one needs to ensure that when cleaning the mascara off one shouldnt irritate the eye area! Would I recommend the two products? The idea is to figure out where your currently are on the scale (which goes from natural to divine, to dramatic, and finally to bold) in order to be bold and push yourself to the next level. The lipstick shade I received, Pink Punch, is a gorgeous bright colour that’s perfect for summer. The lipstick has a smooth application, and the colour lasts long without smudging, which is perfect for me as I seem to spend a large portion of my day reapplying lipstick. The mascara, which features a curved brush and promises up to 900% explosive volume, I found to be good, especially in its price range. While I did experience some volume, unfortunately I have extremely short and straight eyelashes and very rarely find mascaras which perfectly address these issues, so this mascara really didn’t make the bold statement on me that I was hoping it would. Below, my final look with both products. On the “Boldometer” I would rate it as dramatic, as I usually hover somewhere between the natural and divine. I love mascara... the bigger and bolder the eyelashes the better! My first trial of Brown/Black didn't disappoint. I love the way the brush managed to catch even the tiniest of corner lashes. The formula did dry quite quickly though which didn't allow for much layering of product. It lasted for the day in Durban humidity and prevented me from looking like a raccoon! Win! Removal of the mascara was a little challenging though did come off neatly without streaking which was great! Best part is I didn't experience any allergies which was a real bonus. I enjoyed being a little daring for a change with my makeup. I will definitely try other shades in this range. I think its quite reasonably priced as well. I found the mascara easy to apply. It was not clumpy, although I like the Avon Mega EffectsMascara better. It lasted the whole day, and just like it said it did not flake or smudge (which was weird because I rub my eyes ALL THE TIME!). Because it is so long lasting, I had trouble taking it off with my usually cleanser, but I am sure if you use a eye make-up cleanser, it will work fine. Overall, I am quite impressed with the fact that it did not flake or smudge, and it felt very natural and light on my eyes. ULTRA BOLD LIPSTICK - Pink Punch First of all, the colour is indeed bold! I received the Pink Punch, and although I normally don't like flashy colours, I kind of liked this pink (I think it grows on you!). So I decided to be BOLD and wear it! The formula is really nice, feels like a lip balm and it also has a fruity smell which was nice. Not overpowering, just lingering. It has quite a decent staying power, and did not rub off quickly. I also tested by rubbing it off immediately after applying it, and it was quite a struggle, I was left with a nice pink tint. First off, the Pink Punch lipstick was really not a colour I would normally pick for myself, I’m more of a Bare Impact or Starburst Pink kinda gal, but I was willing to accept the challenge. The lipstick comes in a lovely easy to open shine black container, and the burst of colour is amazing. It’s one of Avon’s boldest lip colours yet with 50% more pigments packed in every lipstick vs traditional Avon lipsticks. The colour stays on for hours and I have received numerous compliments from friends and family members every time I’ve put it on. So it makes me feel quite Bold when I’m wearing this. When using my Pink Punch lipstick I try to town down my eye shadow as if you apply to heavy eye makeup you may look like a Transvestite! It’s a brilliant, vibrant and intense colour that you achieve in just one application and it’s on special now for only R69.95 in your latest Avon brochure. Secondly I received the Big & Daring volume mascara in Brown Black which also is not my usual pick as I normally opt for the black shades. The packaging is very modern and chic with the wedge shaped bristles it promises to give you a 360’ explosive lash volume. I find that one coat of mascara was not enough to create that Explosive look so I used 2 coats every time, and I have to say the curved brush gave me explosive clump-free volume. I had no smudging or flaking at all and it resisted heat and humidity quite well on the days I’ve worn it. The Volume Mascara is also on special now for R64.95 in your latest Avon catalogue. I am older (47) so am not entirely sure that ultra bold colour lipstick is me and the shade I selected, Rapid Rose, seems closer to the Bright Nectar in hue as it has a more corally hue, however I must say that I love the way it goes on and doesn't seem to dry out the lips... it also has reasonably good staying power. As far as the mascara is concerned, I do have rather sensitive eyes and the mascara doesn't seem to irritate as some mascara's do. I think the main reason for this is that it really is smudge (and water) proof and stays on! Although I generally prefer a straight wand, the curved wand doesn't make application too tricky and definitely gives nicely defined volumised lashes. I was actually surprised. I would never wear such a "bold" colour.  Being fair skinned, it didn't even suit me much. But this is the entire point of the challenge, right? So I braced myself and put my best pout forward. The pigmentation and colour pay off of this lipstick is phenomenal!  And applies like butter!  What shocked me the most was that when wearing this lipstick, my lips looked and felt super smooth. And even those little lines on my lips kind of disappeared.  Not forgetting to mention that it is long lasting. What more could a woman ask for? Moving on to the mascara. My favourite makeup item would definitely be mascara. And I'm glad to have been given the opportunity to try this 1 out. And boy am i thrilled! 1stly, I love the shape of the brush. It fits the angle of my eye so perfectly and makes application easier.  The formula is perfect, not too wet and not too dry. And it doesn't clump. 1 coat is enough to give your eyes and lashes some va-va-voom. But if you're feeling more daring, that 2nd coat won't hurt ;) When Avon claimed it won't smudge or flake and can last up to 24 hours, I didn't think it was possible. ALL mascaras flake after some time. But 1 night, I fell asleep without washing my face. I didn't have any other makeup on, just mascara so I thought it wouldn't be such a big deal if i didn't wash it off. At the same time putting the mascara to the test. And wow! When i woke up, I kid you not, my eyelashes looked perfectly fresh, as if i had just applied my mascara. No clumping, no flaking, no smudging. Needless to say, this is now my new favourite mascara. I'd feel more comfortable only dabbing the colour on my lips, blending it, removing a bit with a tissue, re-applying just a little bit and voila! All set to have just enough colour on my lips. But then, along came Avon and Beauty Bulletin, daring me to be bold. At first I was very hesitant with the Starburst Pink, it's very pink. I believe it's the same shade my favourite Barbie wore when I was a kid (so you can imagine how pink it must be...). But, I opened the packaging with an open mind and as I removed the sleek black cap of the lipstick, the beautiful barbie pink colour peered at me, daring me to try it. It applies great; it glides smoothly onto your lips and the lovely floral scent adds that extra feminine touch. It chaffed a little on my lower lips, but nothing a little Vaseline can’t fix ;) This lipstick is perfect for spring when we are celebrating colour after a dark and grey winter and this bold hue really celebrates womanhood. Be proud of your pout and wear that bright colour with confidence. The colour will last at least two hours, but then it's just as bright as when you applied it earlier. After a few coffees it will start to fade though (which is understandable). As usual, Avon offers good quality at low prices, so you really strike a bargain with this lipstick. I think the most difficult part of this lipstick is picking your favourite colour. With so many shades, Avon has given women everywhere a chance to be bold, to dare to stand out and own the spotlight with a proud pout. The colour ofthe lipstick product is max mocha and the big and daring volume mascara is black. To be perfectly honest I have never wore such a rich dark brown shade of lipstick before. However I was pleasantly surprised that the pigmentation of the cllour was rich and buildable on application. I applied one coat to my lower lip and blotted it with mytop lip thereafter I applied a second coat for an even darker colour. My lips are naturally quiet dark and I am plesantly pleased with the easy application and I would recommend this product toanyone who loves to experiment with colour. This product has allowed me to feel its okay to experiment with different colours and tones. It makes a bold statement. It lasts on average of 4 hours. Note that the time included me eating and drinking. All in all an excellent buy. I apply my lip makeup first, thereafter i apply my eye makeup. I usually just put on mascara. In testing the mascara I was pleasantly surprised with the ease of application. I normally make a mess of mascara and then I often have to retouch my foundation. The handle allows for an easy grip.when applying it you have to work relatively quickly as it dries quiet fast. The colour was really dark. There were no clumps on my first application. There is a noticeably difference in eyelawh lenght after one coat. To get the best results rotate the brush while applying the mascara. I absolutely loved both of these products and took great delights in breaking the "rules" which say one should either have bold lips or bold eyes, not both. The lipstick has a great texture, very moisturising and lasts a good long time. And it certainly is "ultra" and "bold"! It's very bright, only one coat needed (where I usually do at least 3 coats) and stays bright for quite a while. Unfortunately, the Berry Bold was really not the right colour for me - it's a tone of red that really doesn't suit me, looking quite orange on me. But it's still wearable and I did get lots of compliments so perhaps it's just me being over-sensitive. The mascara also lives up to its name. This is a great find for me as I struggle with keeping mascara on my lashes and not in raccoon circles under my eyes. It amazed me how well it stayed in place with no smudging at all. And it gave me lashes like I'd had extensions! It has a really different brush - curved with different widths along the length of it. I found it worked really well to coat the lashes without caking them. Usually I have to use a little brush to take off the clumps of mascara as I do like my lashes to look relatively natural. However, I had no need for that with this mascara as my lashes looked awesome but not unnatural! All in all, I loved these products. I'll definitely stick with the mascara and perhaps try a different colour in the lipstick. The lipstick colour is called Rapid Rose and is quite subtle, which I love. Usually I would not even look at colour that isn't in the plum/wine colour spectrum. But I might have to reconsider that. The lipstick is matte, applies smoothly to my lips and feels light. It has a faint rosy scent. I like everything about it. I received a black Big daring volume mascara. The brush is wide and gives volume to my lashes. A lot of excess mascara stuck onto the brush though. And removing the mascara was a mission and a half. I liked that the mascara wasn't runny and didn't smudge at any point. Initially I was disappointed when I saw that the colour of mascara I had received was brown/black. Although I am very pale I love thick, dark lashes so I always opt for blackest black. Having said that, I was actually pleasantly surprised at the brown/black as it is still sufficiently dark, particularly for daytime. The mascara creates beautiful volume and this is definitely one I will buy for myself when it comes to an end. In the beginning i found the wand quite chunky and a little tricky to control, but I have got the hang of it now and have no problems. The lipstick colour that I received was Berry Bold, and I was over the moon about this as I have a complete red lipstick fetish at the moment! After only wearing nude colours for many years I recently discovered my love of red lipstick and have been snapping them up in varying shades and textures. The Avon Ultra Bold lipstick has a very soft creamy texture which applies easily and smoothly. Berry Bold is a beautiful bright red (in the photo it looks a bit more orange than it does in real life). It glides on the lips effortlessly and does nor leave you feeling like you need to apply gloss on top of it. I absolutely loved that and I will definitely try other colours as well. I have non-existent eye lashes. The little bit I do have points to all sorts of directions so the mascara for me the works the best are ones with tiny brushes. The Avon Big and Daring volume mascara has a big brush and that didn't work well for my lashes. I looked terribly washed out. I was really excited to try out a bright new colour but it definitely won't go to waste, I will use the lipstick on my next client with the compatible skin tone. Being all excited to go bright with my luscious lashes,I decided to make the look work by using another Avon colour, the pure orchid lipstick. I rimmed my eyes with black eyeliner and kept the colour very nude. I applied 2 layers of mascara. The brush of the Big and Daring volume mascara is stunning. It's wide and allows you to grip from root to tip. The end of the brush gets perfectly into the corners to apply on shorter lashes. It completed by bright #AvonDareToBe summer look perfectly. The lipstick shade I received was Bare Impact, which is a very soft nude colour. The mascara is a brown/black. Let's start with the mascara: Personally, I like a black mascara best, because I think it makes a bigger difference. So I'm not too fond of the shade. I feel there are two MAJOR downsides to this new mascara. The first is that it is SO waterproof that even with makeup remover, wipes and washing my face, I couldn't get it off! Luckily, a friend on here suggested I try coconut oil. I did try it last night, and was astounded to find it actually worked! (Thanks for the top tip, Lizna!)So be prepared, you'll likely struggle to get it off. The second issue I have is that the hole in the tube is too big, so it doesn't get rid of excess product on the wand, which is inconvenient. Too much product on the wand can cause smudging and a cakey effect. The brush is quite large, so I struggle to coat every strand without making a mess. The mascara also definitely needs two coats to be really effective. However, when I go to the trouble of applying it properly, in two coats, the effect is quite good! I was even asked if I had falsies or extensions going! I'd give the mascara a 3 out of 5. I'd prefer a smaller brush, and the hole in the tube really needs to be smaller. Now, to the lipstick! As I said, I received the Bare Impact shade. It is a light nude, and not a shade I would normally wear. In terms of "Daring to be bold", this shade doesn't really scream bold to me. However, I really like the lipstick. It goes on easily, and the formula is fabulously rich without being too heavy. It doesn't dry my lips out at all, and has a good wearability to it. It lasts long, and stays gorgeous! I'd definitely give some of the "Bolder" shades a try! I've covered all of the points in my video review as well - although, I must apologise for the sniffling in the video - I'm recovering from the flu. Anyway, so let's start off with what I wore prior to receiving these products. I was always an 'I need to have lip colour' kind of girl, but I rarely wore bright or bold colours, so when I got my review products, I was quite surprised. After I picked up my products I immediately tried the Vivid Violet lipstick. I must say, it's really prominent and bold, and also has a purplish, metallic undertone. It literally glides on so it's super easy to apply. The packaging itself is feminine and bold, and looks like something I'd gladly show off when showing it to my girls. I truly love the colour, and I actually wear it daily. I also love the fact that I'm able to adjust the saturation of it (by applying less/more coats) because I do feel having it too bold is a teency bit too much for the work place. Now, let's talk about the mascara. I honestly couldn't care much when it comes to wearing mascara because I have really sensitive eyes, so I hardly wear it (even though I sometimes really want to). It really is Big and Daring, however, because of my really sensitive eyes, it burns like hell when I apply and remove it. It also takes some time to remove even when using make-up remover. Overall, I'd probably really love it and wear it daily if it didn't irritate my eyes. Unfortunately, the colour I received, Starburst Pink, was faaarrr too out of my comfort zone. It did not go well with my skin tone at all, and wearing it made me feel like I could be part of the cast in Jersey Shore! It also helped that I have brutally honest siblings and they all gave me a huge NO :(. I asked a few lighter skinned people to try it out and they all felt the colour was too "Barbie" and plastic for them to wear. That said, I love the way this lipstick smells! It glides on really nicely, the texture is matte and creamy, and the pigment stays for a while. I also received the Big & Daring Volume Mascara in brown/black which I love. It applies easily and was clump free. The colour is quite nice too. The formula is very wet which builds up nicely to create volume. The brush is curved and the bristles are long making it easy to apply, clump-free. The Colour looks more natural than the black which is what I normally buy. The formula was lightly creamy and applied easily. This shade wore well for a couple of hours, and then that was it, no more color. It's more matte than glossy. 2) The Mascara - I tried the mascara and found it terrible. On applying the mascara it was all over my eyes. It's not waterproof. What i liked though it's not thick and it did not spat all over when you pull the brush out of the bottle. The angled brush applies easy. Love the color but not working for me. It washes off easily as well and that is one thing I really have to have from a mascara as waking up with black eyes is not cool. As for the lipstick, well I'm not always one to wear a lipstick, but with receiving the Bare Impact shade, it is awesome. It is a natural shade that I can wear with just about any colour eye shadow and it makes my lips look even more beautiful as well. It brings out the lines around my mouth and with me having a small mouth it is something that I really need. It is really well pigmented I got mine in the shade bare impact which is a rather natural look but is still a very vibrant color, very sexy and professional look. And the mascara was absolutely amazing its my personal favorite now, it lasts a very long time definitely waterproof and also very pigmented also the curved brush helps a lot. I would definitely be buying both again. The Beey bold colour was actually not intetional because we were told that we could select the correct colour upfront at the avon event and just ask for it at the gate but, this did not happen. That is how I ended up with this colour. Nevertheless, at the event, for 1 minute we had to apply lipstick which created a totally bold lip colour look and though, I do not believe this to be a colour suited for me, many people at the venue shouted when they saw me: Wow, you are transformed!. I did not beleive a word and somehow felt that I looked awful with heavy red lips. The starburst pink is a nice rosy colour which I had hoped would suit me better but, I don't think so either. In fact, I think it makes me look worse. Please see pics below. Not really a better choice. My take on the lipsticks: Very moisturising and great matte look with ultra notice me colour and bold features, love the colours just having trouble finding one suited to me. Very reasonably priced and can be worn all day. Not so great things for me: The lipsticks are not colour stay and I find myself having to re-apply after about 2 hours or so and, its not just a touch up; I have to wipe and re-apply from scratch so I do not end up with colour lines all over my lips. The lipstick also often rubs off on my clothes, food and teeth, no cool and causes my lips to flake if I don't apply a lipbalm underneath. Overall its a great lipstick with great bold colours. Boy do these push the boundaries and define a whole new level of bold! The mascara I received in Black was in a generous sized tube. It was so easy to apply with the large brush, without clumping and remained remarkably in place the whole day without flaking. It really made my eyelashes look like they were full of volume and lengthier. The Max Mocha shade of lipstick that I received did glide on beautifully and leave my lips quite moisturised. I found it a tad bit overpowering and it looked a bit gothic combined with my pale complexion. I wanted to look bold, not sinister so the second time I applied it I wanted to tone it down a bit. I therefore applied it with a light hand and some lipgloss. Whenever you are given the option to be BOLD, take it! I was very lucky to be chosen to review Avon’s BOLD lipstick, and received the shade Coral Burst plus the Big and Daring Volume Mascara in Brown Black to try out. The colour of the lipstick is absolutely fantastic. It is an orangey red, and you can never go wrong with a good red lip. The pigment is strong and the lipstick is moisturising, so even applying it over my somewhat winter-chapped lips, it glided on smoothly and didn’t looked cracked. I loved the boldness of the colour and it definitely made me feel a BOLD on the boldometer! The lipstick also has a sweet fragrance to it and smells lovely when applied. True to Avon's promise, one swipe of the lipstick over your lips is all you need to create a vibrant look. In fact, I felt so bold that I decided to do something a little daring – something that I only had the confidence to do due to the boldness of my lips. I had heard about a certain cab service in America that lets a regular Joe Soap become a taxi driver, and he can arrange through their app to drive you to your destination for a fee. This service has recently come to South Africa, and was very hesitant at first to use it as I was terrified that a serial killer would pick me up and I would never be seen again! But I threw caution to the wind as I started up the app and was assigned a random driver. As I waited in anticipation, I applied the awesome Avon Big and Daring Volume Mascara on my lashes and another layer of Avon Ultra Colour Bold Lipstick (not that I needed it but it felt so moisturising on my lips!) and made my way outside to meet my driver. Pleasantly surprised, my driver was a lovely man who took me to my destination quickly and safely without the faintest hint of kidnap or murder (bonus points!) After the great experience with the taxi, I decided to test out the lipstick in another situation where I knew I would need the confidence that only comes from wearing a great, BOLD lipstick – having permanent eyeliner done! I had had permanent eyeliner done before, but I was really scared to get it done again. It can be quite painful and the idea of someone wielding a needle at my eyeball makes me more than a little anxious! Unfortunately I was not able to wear the awesome mascara as I was not allowed to wear any makeup around my eye for the procedure, but I nervously applied my Avon Ultra Colour Bold lippie and took one last look at my face before going in. As I saw how great I looked with beautiful blood red lips, my nerves started melting away and I just knew I would be ok – sore and puffy, but ok. I was not allowed to wear any makeup around my eyes for a couple of days after the procedure but that didn’t bother me, with lashings of Avon’s BOLD lipstick, everyone’s eyes were drawn to my lips and they didn’t notice that my eyes were red and puffy! I love being BOLD with this lipstick and will definitely be getting more shades of this. There are 10 in total and I have two of them - the Coral Burst which is a orange-red colour and Vivid Violet which is an awesome purple colour. There are a good mix of pinks, reds, oranges, browns and purples to choose from - a shade to match any skin tone! I received an Avon Ultra Colour Bold Lipstick in Starburst Pink & Avon Big & Daring Volume Mascara in Brown Black. Loving the packaging of the Avon Ultra Colour Bold Lipstick, in pretty cerise & black, I tried that first & have been using it for a week. It's advertised as having 50% more pigment, and this is great because it has excellent coverage & gives one a big bang of colour when applied. I also enjoyed that it feels creamy and moisturising when applied and smells delicious, with a sweet, floral scent. This isn't my personal favourite shade of pink - it's quite an ice-cream shade, whereas I prefer a more dramatic deeper pink - but is lovely for spring or teens wanting a pretty pink look. I'd rate this shade a 5 on the Boldometer and it looks quite natural if blotted a little. On me personally each application lasted about 3 hours before I needed to reapply. Avon's September special of 2 Ultra Colour Bold lipsticks for R120 makes this lipstick even more attractive. When I first opened the Big & Daring Volume Mascara I was slightly disappointed that the jar is so huge - not small purse friendly - however, it's necessary for the big curved wand. It applies smoothly, although I found using the outside edge of the wand easier for application because it kept my lashes separate, whereas using the inside of the curved edge made it clump a little. I only used the inside edge at the end of application to curl my lashes up. The application lasts all day and looks great - I definitely had big, voluminous lashes as promised. I found it a bit drying, so would recommend using it with a lash conditioner or oil. Priced on the September special at R64.95, it's also extremely inexpensive compared to similar products. One down side of these products is that they contain petrochemicals & the mascara contains parabens, so they're not something I would use every day. However, I really enjoyed the new look achieved using them & the new lipstick shade added some fun to my workday.
