It’s that time of the year when we all should be putting in a little extra effort to protect our skins against icy weather, blustery wind and constant exposure to heaters.

We’ve never bought into conventional wisdom which dictates that one has to spend a fortune to get the best results, so, with that in mind, we put set out on an expedition to identify the best budget-friendly (under R50), supermarket brand body moisturisers.

AND THE “BB BUDGET BODY LOTION BEAUTY ACCOLADES” GO TO:

1. Dawn Exotic Richness Body Lotion with Fruit Extracts and Vitamin A & E 400ml (R17.99 for 400ml, supermarkets nationwide)

Why we love it: Its significantly cheaper than its competitors- you get a whole lot more for a lot less! The strong fragrance also meant we could save our scents for more special occasions. However, It didn’t absorb easily, and left a slightly sticky residue on the skin.

2. Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair (R24.99 for 200ml, supermarkets nationwide)

Why we love it: Absorbed quickly leaving my skin feeling refreshed and intensely moisturized. The rich formulation was perfect for dry and eczema-prone skin.

3. Johnsons 24H Aqueous Body Cream (R25.99 for 300ml, supermarkets nationwide).

Why we love it: With excellent hydrating properties, a rich texture this worked wonders on extremely dry, cracked skin.

4. Dove Deeply Nourishing Beauty Shower (R33.99 for 250ml, supermarkets nationwide).

Why it’s a winner: We loved the uniquely soapy texture, and how it absorbed well into the skin before we stepped out of the shower. It left no residue, and the subtle fragrance was pleasant and long lasting.
