Open toe sandals look good but exposing our tootsies to the sun is bad news.

As much as we love a little fun in the sun, our feet suffer most when the sun comes out to play.

Here are some hard and fast solutions for three major post-summer pedi concerns…

CALLUSES

The problem:

An area of the skin has become hard, tough and dry as a result of repeated friction, pressure, or another irritation.

Quick fix:

Scrub daily with a blister pad, bristle brush or you can give an electronic foot file a go. Afterwards, liberally apply a specially formulated foot cream.

CRACKED HEELS

The problem:

Otherwise known as heel fissures, parts of the skin are dry, white, cracked and sometimes painful.

Quick fix:

Extricate any dirt and grime build up with a bristle brush or pumice stone. Slather on a generous amount of a heel healing balm.

TRY: Oh So Heavenly Ultra Nourishing Heel Balm (R18 at Clicks) or Kiehl’s Intensive Treatment Moisturizer (R225 at selected retailers nationwide)

FUNGAL INFECTIONS

The problem:

Most commonly known is Athlete’s Foot, this affects one in every six of us. The skin in-between the toes and sides of feet is itchy, flaky and red with white cracks.

Quick fix:

Select creams specialized to treat fungal infections like Athlete’s Foot.  Look for the ingredient Clotrimazole when searching for a foot cream.
