How to stop my nail polish from chipping

You just got the perfect manicure and you cannot wait to show it off to the rest of the world. But the next day you wake up and “GASP!” – one of your beloved nails has already chipped! Suddenly this so-called- perfect manicure looks rather tacky….

Not to fear, we are here to give you some tips on how to keep those polished nails looking gorgeous for longer!

1) Make sure your nails are clean:
Always wipe off any left-over nail polish you had on your nails before starting with a fresh coat. A great nail polish remover is the Cutex Nourishing Nail Polish Remover. The natural oils on your nails will also prevent your new nail polish from adhering to the surface of your nails so make sure you wipe them clean before you start.

2) It’s time for first base:
Apply a base coat to the nails when prepping, as this is when nail polish stays on for longer and prevents chipping.

3) The thinner, the better:
When applying your nail polish coats, rather apply thinner coats than thicker ones. Thicker coats tend to smudge easier and take far longer to dry. You also might run the risk of brewing bubbles in your polish from thicker coats. We suggest 3 thin coats for the perfect nails.

4) Shimmer up:
nail polish with shimmer stays on your nails for longer due to the shimmering particles clinging onto the polish better. So ladies, it’s time to sparkle up! A must-try is the Bobbi Brown Shimmer nail Polish. They are absolutely gorgeous!

5) Top it off:
After you have applied your 3 coats of polish, always make sure you end off with a nail polish base coat on your nails. This prevents the polish from cracking and it lasts longer.

With the summer sun here in full swing, it’s time to wear your nails with pride and without the fear of them chipping!
