The Body Shop - Seaweed Iconic Clay Mask Hot
Clay and Seaweed Mask
The Body Shop’s Clay and Seaweed mask is my latest beauty find and oh how glorious it is. I’ve heard of lots of people that go for clay or bud masks/baths to enhance the longevity and beauty of their skin.
Having a puppy who loves to give beeeeg sloppy kisses is great for the soul but it’s taxing on the skin. It especially leaves me (from time to time) with the odd break out or two. Which is how my skin was feeling when I went out looking for a detoxing mask.
So as is my usual beauty regime, I steamed my face and gently exfoliated then slathered on some clay and seaweed mask onto my clean visage.
It started to dry quickly and within 10 minutes my skin was feeling tight as the clay dried up altogether. I could feel the algae extracts and the clay doing its thing.
What’s next? Wash off the clay and moisturise as usual.
I have dry skin on a good day so I slathered on some hydrated moisturiser because a detox or clay mask will draw out all the toxins and excess oil with it. The last thing you want is a toxin free DRY face. Nosireebob.
This mask left my skin feeling softer, brighter and healthier. I felt the difference over the next week and other people saw it too.
– Smaller pores
– Softer skin
– Brighter complexion
I will definitely be using this treat once a month to detoxify. Give it a try yourself. At R155 per 100ml at The Body Shop Stores, it’s a steal.
TBS Ionic Clay Mask
I recently received a voucher from The Body Shop and I decided to pick up a face mask. During winter, my skin dries up but still manages to stay oily in my t-zone (forehead and nose) area. The consultant at The Body Shop recommended this because it is for oily/combination skin.
When I opened this in store, I immediately put it back down. The smell was really over powering. As you can tell by the name, this mask smells like seaweed. I then gave it a second chance and the smell was not too bad. Its just a bit different to what I usually expect from a face mask. I ended up getting the mask because The Body Shop was having a 20% off special on everything in the store. That plus my voucher made this mask affordable.
The mask is grey in color but dries white on your face. It tightens up on your face quite a bit. It is a clay mask so if you do not like masks that makes it impossible for you to smile, you will not like this product. I left this mask on for about 10 minutes (The Body Shop recommends that you leave it on for 10-15 minutes) and then removed it by wetting a makeup sponge and gently wiping my face. I could instantly see that my face looked a lot less oily in my t-zone area but still moisturized. My skin felt softer and it didn't react to the mask at all.
I would recommend this product if you suffer from combination/oily skin but if you are not a fan of the smell of the ocean then you wouldn't like this product at all.
I hope everyone had a good weekend!
Living in Durban the humidity plays havoc with oily skin, more so in summer. Most masks designed to target excess oil for oily skin didn’t seem to work for me - after using them I couldn’t see or feel in difference in any way. Then I found the Seaweed Iconic Clay mask and it really does wonders. First of all a little bit of it is all you need to smooth over your face in a thin layer, it isn’t necessary to glop huge amounts of it over your face and neck for it to work. I’ve been using it twice a week for 7 weeks now and the product is not even half way finished so it’s good value for money. In addition to that, after using it my skin is not oily at all and feels clean and fresh without any tightness. Regular use has smoothed out problem areas, and new blemishes have dried out after one application. One aspect though that you must keep in mind is that exposure to air can dry it out really quickly so ensure the lid is firmly screwed closed after every use or you’ll be left with a lump of rock. From all the masks I’ve tried this is truly the best I’ve found for oily skin. I highly recommend this mask and you can purchase it at The Body Shop for R110.
The Body Shop - Seaweed Iconic Clay Mask
I was so sad when I finished my TBS Tea Tree mask 2 weeks ago. That 100ml tub lasted me well over a year and it works like a dream. So I decided to try the Seaweed range and I wasn't disappointed at all.
Firstly the smell is great, its clean and refreshing. You only need a little as it goes a long way, like I said my previous one lasted me well over 1 year. I kept it on for 15 mins and my skin felt so clean. This mask sucks out all the yucky oil and dirt and the feeling of cleanliness is amazing. Its perfect for combination to oily skin types.
This retails for R120 at TBS and its such a bargain buy as it will last forever.
Ionic clay mask
I love this seaweed range from the Body Shop and this mask is ideal for weekly use- The tub retails for R120 and is worth it= I got 2 applications from the lid alone before delving into the actual tub! Well worth it if you add how much individual masks cost! Plus the tubs is useful when it is empty to make your own scrubs etc.
