How To Find A Hairstylist

Need to find a salon or hairstylist? Find out how you can narrow down the search with this article.

If only finding a hairdresser was as simple as walking into a salon and having a seat in a chair. I most probably would be going to a salon more often.

Our hair is our crowning glory, so it is important that we ensure that it is strong and healthy and that it looks great. Here are a few hints on how to find a hairdresser that suits your needs.

Before making an appointment with a new stylist, it is important that you scope out the salon. The receptionist should have no problem if you asked a few questions or if you have a look around on the main floor.

Make a mental checklist of these points:
•Is the floor clean? Do they allow hair to collect on the floor?
•Are the brushes and hair tools used cleaned regularly?
•Are the towels clean and for the most part, stain free?

In addition to this checklist it is important that you take note of the vibe of the salon and if it suits your personality. Getting your hair done is not only about looking fabulous it is also about the experience. Some women prefer salons where they can relax and get their hair done in silence, where as other women prefer salons with upbeat music or where they can have a gossip sessions.
It is extremely important that before choosing a hair stylist, that the salon stocks products suited to your hair type. Enquire by the receptionist or a stylist on what products they stock.

While you’re enquiring about a hairdresser, check out their client’s hair and the hair of the other stylists’ clients. Not all hairdressers are jack of all trades, if you’re a curly head and everyone in the salon has fairly straight hair, it may not be the hairdresser and salon for you. You can take the risk, but I can do my own hair better than some hair stylists I’ve been to, mainly because my hair type was out of their comfort zone.

The amazing thing about the internet is that because so many businesses and people are online, you can easily get an online review about a hairstylist. So always Google a stylist you’re interested in and check out their Facebook pages for reviews.

Once you’ve chosen a stylist ensure that you understand one another during your initial consultation. Communication is key and you need to ensure that the stylish knows what you want. If you’re going for more than just the basic blow dry, the stylist should be able to tell you what he or she will be doing. If you are not sure what will the stylist will be doing, do not let him or her touch your hair, especially if you’re getting a cut (not that you should get your hair cut by a stylish you’ve never been to before). If there is a lack of communication, chances are you will leave the salon unhappy and never return.

I hope these hairstyle tips will help you in finding a stylist that you and your hair will love.

But, how often should you trim your hair?
