There’s more to hair tools than just combs, brushes and hot tools. There are thousands of hair tools on the market, some especially suited for specific hair textures and lengths. This list contains some common and little known hair care items that will aid you in attaining healthy and great looking tresses:

There are various brands of detangling brushes. These brushes have bristles of different lengths and thicknesses to help detangle your hair faster as well as minimize breakage. Many brands have different types of detangling brushes to suit your hair type.

Rollers:
When it comes to styling, rollers are a bit old school. There are different types and sizes of rollers available, but it is best to use plastic rollers as Velcro rollers can cause damage to your hair. Depending on the size used, rollers can be used to curl your hair or add volume. Larger rollers will give you great height without having to back comb your hair. Rollers are a heat free alternative to curling irons. If you have curly hair, you can use rollers to loosen your curls without having to first straighten your hair before re-curling it. Hot rollers or even steam rollers can be used if you’re in a hurry, which is gentler on your hair.

Salon shears:

Whether you call them shears or scissors, it’s always useful to have a pair of salon scissors in your beauty cabinet. If your hair is longer than shoulder length, you are able to trim it yourself, even if it’s just a few centimeters to get rid of unsightly split ends before your next trip to the hair dresser. Salon quality shears are small and very sharp. Never use paper or kitchen scissors as they may be too blunt and you’ll end up with more split ends than before.

Ceramic or Tourmaline hot tools:
Never ever use hot tools with metal plates or ceramic coated plates. Whether you’re looking for a flat iron or curling iron, always choose hot tools that have tourmaline or ceramic plates. These hot tools use negative ions and infrared heat for a consistent temperature that will leave your hair smooth and soft. Unlike hot tools with metal plates, ceramic and tourmaline hot tools reduce damage. Even though these hot tools are gentler on your hair, always use heat protection.
